ROTARY BANTAM
IMM
111._ The
The surprising Grand lend
bantams came to tovra Saturday
night and Scored a goal in each
period, to hand Keith fitusser's.
Rotary Bantams their first de-
feat in the W.O.A,A. schedule,
GQderteh was out -shot and
out -hit as the outstanding play-
er of the 'game was Grand
Ben'd's. goaltender who picked
up the shut -out.. The Rotary
Bantams have excellent bal-
ance and strength in all posi-
tions, but they lack the team
effort, and if they expect to win
games, they have to play like a
unit, not individually,
Next game is in Mitch-
ell Monday night.
BANTAM HOUSE LEAGUE
The four teams representing
the Bantam House League are
Goderich Elevators, Don Hoist
Real Estate, McGee Motors and
Denomme Flowers. Games
played in this League count in
the standings. The Top Team to
date is Denomme Flowers, with
two wins and no defeats. .
This is good hockey, and very
keen competition, and if you
want to see some fast action,
drop down to the arena Monday
and Thursday evenings_ (I
.think.)
All records are still not com-
• plete and we would appreciate
the new convener .coming up
with a schedule of games,
iff,dates, aiid.times, .
.Mention should be given to,
the Don Hoist Team who with-
out their coach arid only nine
players; were defeated 7-5 by a
strong Goderich Elevator Team.
This high scoring game saw hat
tricks' b,' 'Paul Parson and Ben-

goals and two assists for Don
Hoist. Other goal scorers were
L Nicholls, D. Kirkconnell, and
P. Schaeffer for the losers. D.
Nichols got the lone ,goal for
winners, Goderich Elevators.
Denomme Flowers defeated
McGee Motors 4-3 in a game
that could have gone either
way. Clan, c opened the scoring
for 1MtcG6e's' `wit Blair' ey assist

fought back as Williams got two
• goals, Hicks getting •the assist
on the first goal.
In the second period, King
scored unassisted for De-

Niblock made the score 3-2 but
this didn't hold as Hudson

for a 4-2 lead. The final period,
,McGee Motors got the only goal,
1,by Meriam, unassisted.

Sailors -lose to Seaforth
The Goderich Sailors played
the " worst game of their young
- season last Tuesday, November
28 in Seaforth and lost to the
Seaforth Beavers 7-3.
Seaforth controlledthe play
throughout the entire game
although they trailed 3-2 after
one period of play. The entire
Goderich team played a poor
defensive game. ,
The forwards .. allowed . Sea -
forth to get organized iri' their
own end and did not backcheck.
In the Goderich end, Seaforth
players were left alone in front
,of the lett once or twice.
• It cost the Goderich team one
goal' in the third period. Jack
Mcllwain was left unguarded in
front and when 'Ken Doig and
Bill McLaughlin dug the puck
out of the corner; he slipped it
under Chuck Jewell's pad:
Jewell also did not play as
well as he had in previous
games.
Jack Mcllwain opened the
scoring early in the first period
from Ken Doig and Bill Mc-
Laughlin. Only 20 seconds had
elapsed before Mcllwain broke
in all alone on Chuck Jewell
and slid the puck along the ice.
Jim Hayter tied the game at
the halfway mark of the period
from Jim Farrish. Ron Miller
gave Goderich a 2-1 lead at
16:11 from Jim Hayter. Frank
Hagen scored from a scramble
infront of the Seaforth net for
Goderich's final goal at 17:11.
Jack Mcil-wain scored Sea-
forth's second goal' from Iden
Doig, 9 seconds later to cut
Goderich's lead. The second
period was the, decissive one

the period and McIlwain's third
goal of the game at 11:32 put
Seaforth ahead for good.
Ken Doig and Ross Davies
scored late in the period to give
Seaforth a commanding.6-3 lead
going into the 'third. Jack Mc-
llwainscored his fourth goal of
the game. at 1,0:48 of the third to
round out the scoring. Seaforth
kept Goderich bottled up in
their own end throughout most
of the final period.
Seven penalties were called
in the game, four• to Goderieb-
and threetro Seaforth.
The game produced some
injuries. Bolo Rich played only
one shift in the first period and
both Jim Hayter and Tom Craw:
ford caught high sticks just
above the eye.
