rich:
As a candidate for council in
1973/74, here is a short letter on
my opinions.
I believe council should help
small busines'smen to get start-
ed in Goderich; some of them
might grow bigger thereby giv-
ing more jobs to local labor.
We also should have the am-
ing law passed and set up that
people know where they 'ean
build and what conditions must
be met.

Ashfield Council and Iftlron'
County Se.hool Board represent-
atives of 'this area spoke to
those who by their attendance
sfrewed interest in municipal -
activities. Interesting reports
summarized the year's work in
county, township and school
affairs. Candidates for election
presented their views also.

shown by you' on December 4 by

wish to make it clear that jhe credit for the completion of this
ambitious program belongs to the whole council ---9 elected
representatives.
Your council has not added to the debenture debt of the
town and we have tried to keep the tax rate increase to a
minimum. Our revenue from the mining tax has been reduced
by approximately $100c',000 per year. In spite of this loss in
municipal revenuO, I have worked with the finance chairman
and we have succeeded in negotiating extra funds from the
province to offset this reduction.
Proposals for the Future:
1) Ear marking budget fund in 1973 and 1974 fOr a planned
'proven of street and sidewalk rebuilding.
2) Construction of a new road linking No. 8.Highway to No. 21
Highway, providing access to the Industrial Park 'front both
main highways. This would ease traffic on Blakey, Sennett and
Britannia Rd.
3) Construction of the proposed storm sewer which would
serve the south end of the. town.
4) Further development in industrial Park. As Chairnlin °MI6
