Sailors opened theii season, on
the right track with a 6-2 victory
over Port Elgin last Friday
evening in. Goderich. In Port.
Elgin on Sunday Port Elgin
came back with a 4-2 victory.
Goderich opened up a 6-0
lead in the game Friday night
before Port Elgin got on the,
scoreboard.
George Gould scored the
opening goal at 12:30 from
Austin Fults. Gould took Fult's
pass just inside the blueline and
drove a low shot into the lower
left hand corner under the Port

was excellent by both goalies.
Rob•Kellestine kept Goderich in
the game in the first period
when Goderich managed only
one goal. All the shots on him

Canada soccer
Bruce 'Thomas, a Toronto
lawyer, has been invited by
Health and Welfare Minister
John Munro to .conduct a study
to review soccer in Canada arid
to recommend ways and means
to accelerate the development of
the sport.
Mr. Thomas will submit his
report and recommendations to
the Minister concerned before
the end of 1972.
The Canadian Soccer
Association has agreed to co-
operate. and has assigned' its
Executive Director, Eric. King,
to act in a liaison capacity to co-
ordinate the support of the
Association.
Sport Canada will assist in
the study and has ' appointed
Ted Peterson as co-ordinator.
Claude Lacasse, also of Sport
Canada, will work with Mr.
Peterson.
Mr. Thomas will call upon
and solicit views from
Canadians interested in the
development of soccer.
Goderich was shooting from far-
ther out on Earle Grant. Grant
looked good on one, play when
he robbed Art McDougall on the
shortside.
Grant, had to be good in the
final two frames when Goderich
started their offence rolling.
Goderich was assessed six
minors and one ten •minute
misconduct. Port Elgin took
seven minors and one miscon-
duct.
In Port Elgin on Sunday, Port
Elgin scored three times in the
first period to defeat Goderich 4-
2.
Jim McKinnon opened the
scoring at 4:50 of the first from
Rick Schell and Ron Bell. Ron
Lamont put Port Elgin ahead
by two at .10:40 from Rick
Schell. Garry Grant scored the
final goal of the first from Les
Kingston at. 14:31. Wane Fisher
got Goderich on the scoreboard
at 5:23 of the second from
Wayne Doak. Ross Dudgeon
scored Port Elgin's final goal at
15:45 of the second .from Jim
Abbott. Jim Farrish scored the
only goal ,of the' third at 13:22.
Twenty four penalties were
handed out in the game.
Goderich received 12 minors
and one 'major. Port Elgin had
11 minors.
Goderich plays three times
this week, they play at home
tomorrow night (Friday,'Novem-
ber 24) against Seaforth. They
play in Kincardine on Sunday
and in Seaforth on Tuesday.

United Church the service of
baptism was solemnized for
John Robert, son of Mr. 'and
Mrs. Robt. G. Wright; Melissa
.Jane daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
Derk Logtenberg; and Paul
Van, son of Mr. and Mrs. David
Dawson. Another special part of
the service was the dedication of
the two gifts received from St.
Paul's Anglican church i.e. the
piano and a candle snuffer, the
latter being the gift of Mrs. Gor-
don Congram.
Mrs. Robert Bere suffered a
stroke' to her right side and is in
Goderich hospital.
Bert McWhinney of Crewe is
also a patient in Goderich
hospital; since Friday.
Mrs. Gladys Rivett has retur-
ned home after spending some
time with Mr. and Mrs. Gordon
Sampson, Goderich. We hope
• she continuesto feel improved.
A good crowd attended the
reception in honor of Mr. and
Mrs. Bill Caesar on ' Friday
evening in Dungannon

Paul Kelly led the Juveniles

assists. Bruce Bowman had two
goals and one assist and Al
Sheleton scored twice. Tim
McAstocker, .. Brian Thompson
and Phil Evans scored the other
Juvenile goals. Thompson also
had one assist. Dan Duncan
assisted on two goals and I a n
MacAdam and Wayne Ladd on
one each. Ron Whetstone led
Sifto Salt with a goal and assist.

day, DRMCO scored two goals
