They have been busy recently constructing mobiles of natural materials such as pine cones, bark, cedar twigs and chestnuts. These are very impressive. The claisses have also, been modelling -clay and drawing similar to 'the Eskimo way of art. The clay figures and Eskimo art 'make a bright display in the main corridor of GDCI. * * * Every ''clay -too there is a. noon -hour student art workshop ews ron FREEMAN open to all studLnts. First at these noon -hour sessions, the students were taught how to sketch from slides, they . then studied the • muscular and skeletal structure of the cat, and finally sketched cats. Venture into Room 32 some day, and take a look at the bulletin boards. GDCI has ar- tistic talent! Music classes will be held in 'the cafeteria for the next two weeks, and band rehearsal will be on the stage of the at'iditori um. Workmen are changing the A. V.R. into a music room com- plete with individual practise moms. Both Music and Art are new subjects to GDCI thins ear and have been `greeted with en- thusiasm. e' s a e wi a con- centrated,'skating program until they can move up . and play hockey. . The Novice section under Don Elliott and Richard Madge have over 90 registrations and will be working hard to teach' skating and puck control drills for three weeks before teams are picked. The Pee -wee and ban- tam sections will have a similar teaching .program to start the season. . The teaching ,program was launched la4 Saturday with a coaches clinic.
