A road is shown 'running down the hill from' the north end of Victoria Street : curving, back apparently to the present site of Maitland Golf and Country Club, and reaching an arn'r of the river: In 1909, the harbor area 'contained the ocean House, waterworks and "big mill." The bank along "Coburg"Street Was Cannon Park. The southern part of Essex street bore two other names— Wright and Norfolk. Blake Street west of Eldon` was then named Thomas Street. Bennett Street from South to Bayfield road was known as McNab, for part of the distance, then Tilt. (Tilt is now a short street running north off Bennett.
