This year, another'trip has taken place. Qn May 29,.',arly in the morning, Z3 children and 10 adults left Kingsbridge Semi fOr Victoriaville, Quebec. Our route took us through Wingham, Guelph and Toronto. Between Guelph and Toronto we viewed the high limestone 'ridge called the Niagara Escarpment. This ridge divides Western Ontario from Central Ontario.. After passing through Oshawa, we entered Kingston. Here we stopped at Old Fort Henry and saw the changing of the guard: The Fort's mascot was a white Saanen goat named David II. At noon the guards ;practised theirgundrills. Looking over the walls, we could view the beginning of the ThousandIslands. The Thousand Islands are typical of the land surface of the Frontenac Dairy cows even here - One of the stops on the Kingsbridge -St. "Joseph's ~School tour involved a tour of an experimental dairy farm. Here members of the group look over some of the'facilities. Axis. tn'many places the road east of Kingston had been cut through large deposits of rock. One of the most exciting moments of our trip w ,s when we crossed„ihe boundary into Quebec at 3:55 p.m. On our way to Montreal we crossed the Ottawa River. We had trouble reading the road signs as they were now in French. In Montreal, we saw the cross which isbuilt on top of Mount Royal. It ,was first put there by Maisonneuve in gratefulness for having 'his prayers answered during a flood. We also saw the site of the 1967 Expo Exhibition. At this point everyone became very excited because Victoriaville was less than 100 miles away. As our`group crossed over the St. Lawrence, a fine view of the countryside could be had. When we finally arrived in Victoriaville, we spent a while trying to find theT-St. Gabriel Lalement School:,The principal of the-sctrooJy Soeur Jeanne d'Arc greeted us. After spending a few minutes in the school, the -sister Came aboard the bus, and we all headed for the reception which had been planned by the Knights of Columbus. The teachers helped us find 'our pen pals. After getting paired up, everyone headed into the hall fora Snack. , After the reception, everyone got' his suitcase and went totthe housewhere he or she would stay for the week, The next morning, some walked and others went by. bus to St. Gabriel Lalemont School. Thebus tuok us to an, experimental farm where new dairy techniques were being used. • After lunch, which we ate at our homes, the group split in three parts. One group went to the Rubin clothing factory where 996 employees' produce high -style men's suits: another went to, the fibreglass boat building factory, and the third to a milk processing factory. -That night -art-he park -we---,; played, a game of baseball., .
