Goderich athletes. came home
• with at least ten ribbons from
WOSSA Track and Field
• competitions held Saturday. The
girls" -meet took place in• Sarnia,
Chris Wiidgen placed second in
'the Midget hurdles, with a•.tinie of
13.4 seconds, Lisa Scholtz placed
second •in the Midget 220 yard
• dash and Brenda Fisher was
fourth place winner pi;the Midget
high jump. In other;l..evels, Kitty
Niiilock placed' forrth in the
intermediate High jump and Sue
Smalley took eighth place in Shot
Put. •

dash,was won.by Brenda Graham.
G.D.C.1. had another first place
winner too, as Jim McGee won the

It is .obvious that the school
year is drawing' to .a close. The
annual Awards • •Assembly' was
held lastrThursday .afternoon to
honour_ the outstanding students
who participate in the extra=
curricular activities at G.D.C.I.
I'll mention a few of the major
presentations as it would be
impossible to list the ninety -some •
awards. ,
The Most Valuable Female.
Athlete award went to Brenda
Graham and Gary Lounsbary.

Trophy.
The Athletic Trophies for the
best- athletes of each year, were
given out as follows: Year One,
Jim McGee 'and Chris Wildgen:
Year Two; Tom, O'Brien and
Becky Crawford; Year Three,
Doug Fisher and Nicky Lambert:
Mark Ryan and Barb Miller were
Year Five recipients.
The 'Hftf Club ,Trd illy was
presented to Alan Bogie who had a:
scdre of ninety-seven out of a
possible hundred points.
Jane Hopkinson received the
Most Valuable Cheerleader
Award, and Philip Blaisdale was
named -Team Manager of the
Year. •
The CbllegiatePublic,Speaking
Awards 'went to Mary Ellen
McGill and Ernie McMillan. After
the presentation -of, the .Honour.
Executive, Band and Drama
Plaques, Barb .Miller „ was
awarded the Arthur Peachey
Memorial Trophy. ,This student
must do well in the numerous
activities in which she is
involved.
Last, but not least; the
President of the Student's Council
KevlrreuX, received the`GT .C:1'
Leadership Trophy of which he iS
certainly worthy.

1973 Student Council will take
place to -day (Thursday). Con
Nleledy, Ken Doherty, , Gary
Fisher and Don Henry are running
for the post of president of
Steve Remington, Randy
Keller 'and myself are
campaigning for Social Convener.
The nominations took place last
Thursd+ay and the candidates had
Monday; Tuesday and Thursday in
which to cafnpaign: The halls are
now more colourful than they have
been at -any other time this year.

There were only two accidents
last week in Goderich, and both
-.occurred Saturday evening.
Sathrday, May 27 at 5 p.m.
David A. Harrison of 301 Huron
Road was proceeding south on
Victoria Street in=the lane next.=to
the double centre line when
Hilman Solomon of Chippewa Hill.
proceeding northward came into
collision with Mr. Harrison's
vehicle. ,
The damage is estimated at
$200 to each vehicle.

failed. He travelled around a pole,

damage to Mr. Muck's truck.
