l
Self titled "Independent NDP
Candidate" Ed Bain, who sought
the ' limelight with an
announcement that, he intends to
seek election to the Federal house
in the .upcoming election:
Mr. 'Bar" made the
announcement earlier this month
in a circular found on the
windshields ..of car's ,parked at
Brucefield during a rally held• by
the Huron New Democratic Party.
The rally was originally to. have
been addressed by N.D.P.
provincial leader Stephen Lewis
but at the last minute,—Mr. Lewis
was detained in Toronto at
Compensation Board Hearings
and had, to be replaced by,
provincial secretary fpr ' the
N.D.P. Michael Lewis and N.D. p.
Education Critic Jim Foulds.
`-`,'rhe flyers (Hating 11
questions), were obviously aimed
at Stephen,'' Paul Carroll
(official candidate in the last
-election) noted, -but-the Riding
Associatipn has chosen to ignore
them since it is quite irrational.'`,
The meeting was held•on April 5
and little public attention was
drawn to the flyers until Goderich
Labour Council ousted Mr. Bain
at their meeting- on Monday
• evening - charging 4 -hat ..he had.

the Council, and the name of the

'consent of the council:''
The flyers were not signed -but a
notation . at the bottom said
.' • Published by Ed Bain, President
of the Goderich and District
Labour Count l in the interests of
a better Canada."
In an open letter published in
this week's issue of the Signal
Star, Labour Council secretary
George Simons explains "the
political views expressed in. the
pamphlet were those of Edward
Bain and riot the views of the
Goderich and District Labour
Council."
An election for a new president
to replace Mr. Bain is to be held at
the council's nnextmeeting.: • -

as well:" . . _..... ,
In the fall of 1971 Mr, Bain was
suspended from the Huron Riding
Association of the New

expelled in Ifovember • of that
same year. Early, in. 1'972 the
Pr•ovinci. 1 Association reviewed
