After 50 years. the building` on
,Bayfield Road, which presently
houses "Gord's Sports and
Cycle", is being replaced.
In the early 1920's the BarlOar
Brothers of•Goderich constructed
the buiIding.and in the years since
it has served as a garage and
service Station for numerous
owners, mostrecently being
operated by.Gord Crawford who..,
moved out of the -structure
recently and into a new building.
Where the o l d bu i l -d i ng stands will
soon become a parking lot.

• Mr. Crawford purchased the
building, business -.and.. tend from
Bill Rope in 1965 who had
operated a service station and
machine shop on the premises
since he had bought, the, location
from. the Barker family around
1940. After working a's''a.welder at •
the Dominion .Road Machinery
Company, Gord Crawford decided
to go into business on. his own arid
opened a sports .shop on the
location.
