last week, Jerry Krauter,, 33, a
native of Hanover, was named as
the rural development counsellor
for HurOn, Perth, Lambton and
Middlesex counties operating
out of the office of *the Canada
Department of Agriculture and
Food at Clinton.
Mr. Krauter will be the first
counsellor appointed for the
area under the - federal and
,•
provincial cost sharing
Agricultural Rehabilitation and
Development ,At.
:His main responsibility will
be in the field of" farm
enlargement and counselling
farmers on the advisability of
enlarging their farms by
PILL chasingadditiOnal acreage.
The terms of the A.R.D. Act
provide for the purchase of faim
land at up to $150 per acre. If
expansion seems to be an
advantage a farmer may lease
'acreage with an option to
purchase.
Leases are set, up on periods
of five years and a farmer may
renew,his lease for five 'more
'years only once,' after that time
he must either purchase the land
•involved or loose his option.

-the area from those who wish to
