A parent of the young student
must be .present in the water at
all times during the lesson ,and
according to the pool supervisor,
Betty Bedard, it is really the
parent who teaches the child to
swim under the direction of the
pool's instructor The muscle
arm bands which are worn by
the children are recomr"nended
by the Red Cross and assist the
child to get started in the water-_-.-.,
For instance, the young students
can accomplish the dog paddle
alone after a few Lessons. The

opportunity for both parents
and youngsters to enjoy an hour
of swimmriing. At;.. this time the
youngsters are able to how

swimming lessons and how they
are able to do different
swimming strokes on their own.
Last Tuesday night three
members of the staff; Kathy
Robertson, Ian Harper and Bob
McGill attended a Water Polo
meeting at Clinton Recreation
Centre,
Prior to this -meeting Sam Di
Pietro, head of the Ontario
Water Polo Association, visited
the pool and explained how to
set up water polo teams. The
Ontario Water Polo Association
is setting up teams all over
'`Ontario by helping with
'instructions and sending movies
of the sport -along with proper
polo equipment.
-Three to four tearns are being
set up presently at the pool and
the winner. of the team
tournament will be the All Star .

The swimmers will be putting on
a performance during the Water
. Safety Show that is being ,held at
the end of this month. It shoufrl'
prove to be a challenge for the
youngsters in proficiency skills.
• A nature walk took place on
Monday 12, down at the New
Beach. Thirty children were
allowed on the nature walk.
During the walk the youngsters
were told about different wild
flowers and insects and any
other questions that the crafts
department could answer were

School. The Goderich Police will
be there to judge the
participants, during the rodeo.

Pirie. The• children are to meet at
Victoria Public School at 1:30
p.m. on Friday afternoon with
their bikes.

Hotel will be playing for a dance
at the pool from 8 p.m. to 10
p.rp. on the tennis courts. The
