Light up dessert time with these flaming ice cream toppings
• PEACH FLAMBE --Drain a 19 -ounce can sliced peaches; stir syrup into mixture of
1/4 cup brown sugar and 2 teaspoons cornstarch. Add 1 cinnamon stick. Cook, stirring
constantly until thickened, clear and mixture comes to the boil. Add peaches and heat
.through. Pour 1/4 cup brandy into the center; heat undisturbed.- Ignite and serve
flaming.
BRANDIED NUTS --Bring 1/3 cup butter, 3/4 cup lightly -packed brown sugar and
1/4 cup vv, ter to the boil, stirring constantly until the sugar is dissolved. Stir in
1/4 teaspoon vanilla and 1 cup thinly -sliced toasted pecans or. almonds_; heat through.
Pour 1/4 cup brandy into the center; heat undisturbed. Light carefully and serve flaming.
BANANAS AU RHUM—Saute 4 large peeled and quartered bananas in 1/4 cup
butter until lightly' browned. Turn, sprinkle with -./4 cup brown sugar. When 'soft
' lower heat, add 1/4 cup rum and ignite.
FLAMING MINCEMEAT—Heat 2 cups prepared mincemeat, 1/2..cup,orange juice,
1/3 cup chopped maraschino cherries, % cup chopped walnuts until bubbly. Warm
1/2 cup brandy; carefully ignite and pour over mincemeat.

The December -meeting of the
U.C.W. was held Tuesday
afternoon at the home of Mrs.
Ernest Snowden with ' a good
attendance. The theme • was
Christmas and Mrs. Edward
Robinson had charge of the
program. "While shepherds
watched their flocks by night"
Was sung and Mrs. Robinson led
inrprayer.
Mrs. John Hildebrand gave a
reading "The Creator Came"
which was a collection of
,"-Scripture up until Jesus was
born.- "0 come all ye faithful"
was sung and Mrs. Robinson
gave the meditation. All sang
"As with gladness men of old".
The offering was received, Mrs.
Robinson gave a prayer, read a
Christmas story in ' Scripture
-then gave another prayer..
Mrs. William Hardy took
charge of the business, roll call
was — Some gift received as a
child. Mrs. Stuart Chamney read
the minutes of the previous
meeting. and gave the financial
statement.
All officers were returned to
their jobs for another year by
acclamation. Mrs. Hardy gave a
Christmas reading. Mrs. Margaret
Leddy read a poem,
"Christmas". "Gentle Mary" was
sung and Mrs. Wesley Jefferson
closed the meeting with prayer.
Lunch was sensed by the
hostess assisted by Mrs. Stuart
Chamney" and Mrs. Wesley
Jefferson. Officers for 1971 are

held their Fall Dance to a sellout
crowd, Music was provided by
Desjardine's orchestra.
During intermission, square
dancing was held with Mr, and
Mrs- Mait Driver providing . the
music, and Horace Crawforti,
doing the. calling.
A draw was also held with the
winners being Mrs. McGratten, a
bushel of apples donated by Mr.
C. Laithwaite; and Ray Donnelly
a sheepskin rug.

Saturday, December 5 L1901
entertained their husbands to
their Annual Christmas party.
The gang went bowling at Little
Bowl and then to the Hall for a
delicious supper.
Winners for bowling were:
High Man, Chester Sturdy; Low
Man, Bill Lobb; High Lady,
Helen Westbrook; Low Lady,
Audrey Kernighan.
Special thanks to Harry and

evening so enjoyable and thanks
