Dungannon, died Wednesday,
October 22, at Victoria Hospital,
London, -following a
three-month illness. He was 67.
* The son of Albert Thomas
Mugford and the former Jessie
Alice Burns, he was born
January 17, 1902, in Colborne
Township. He was a trucker and
the former owner of Mugford
Disposal Services in London.
He was married to Agnes
-Morris whosurvives. The
deceased resided in Detroit -for
23 years, in London for 23 years
and moved to Dungannon in

'Miss Saunders was born in
Goderich on December 10,
1891, a daughter of Alexander

She was a member of North
Street United Church and a life
member of the Maple Leaf
Chapter IODE.
She was predeceased by her
parents and by two brothers,
Charles K. Saunders and Walter
L. Saunders. Surviving are one
brother, Frank Saunders,
Goderich; two sisters, Mrs.
George (Alix) Downey, Toronto
and Mrs. C. F. (Agnes)
Chapman, Goderich; several
nieces and nephews in the area.
Funeral, arrangethents were
not complete at the time of
going to press Wednesday. •
ALFRED E. SUMMERS
Alfred E. Summers, Elmvale,
died suddenly at his place of
employment on Thursday,
October 16.
He is survived by his wife, the
former Lillian s Mohring of
Goderich and one brother,
Albert Summers, Port Albert.
The funeral service was held
on October 18 at Lynn Funeral
Home, Elmvale, the Rev. Mr.
• Adams officiating. Interment
was in Elmvale Cemetery.
A memorial service- was held,
October 17 by the Orange Lodge
of Elmvale to which Mr.

letter to council, PUC Manager
Dave Rolston said the steadily
increasing crime rate in Canada
Would make it necessary to
double the output of street
lights. He said lighting fixtures
for streets should only be
bought if theycan use double
the size bulb if required and a
larger size ballast.
The current street lighting
up-datirig program has just been
completed.

under the direction of its
conductor Charles Kalbfleisch,
will be featured on CKNX'
channel 8 TV on the Sunday
"Singtime" program. •
The program is aired Sunday
afternoon from 5:30-6:00 p.m.
The band will be presenting
selections as follows: The Battle
Hymn of the Republic; Were
You There?; The Holy City;
Come Unto Me; You'll Never
Walk Alone and the Messiah
Overture.
Thirty-eight members of the
local band, sponsored by the
Goderich Kinsmen Club, will be
taking part in the afternoon

Kingsbridge Girl Guides
hold successful hike
The Kingsbridge 'Girl Guides
had a successful turn out for
their hike on Saturday October
18 with 39 girls present.
They met at Sheppardon
Store at 1:45 p.m. and at 20
p.m: headed down towards the
beach. • They went along the
beach to Logan Creek, with each
patrol carrying out their nature
project along the way. They
were to • gather • weeds, tree

each. Patrol leaders tried and
were' tested on outdoor
campfire. The girls also were
tested on stalking. They then
built campfires and enjoyed
hotdogs, marshmallows and
freshie. After campfire „ they
headed back for Sheppardon
store through ploughed fields,
corn fields and over many
fences. It was a very enjoyable
hike;

The Goderich Collegiate
Vikings Senior football team
took over undisputed possession
f first place in the Huron -Perth
conference by virtue of a 28-6
victory over the Wingham
-Mustangs here last Wednesday.
Goinginto the game, both
teams had identical 4-0 won -
loss records. The game was
regarded by many as a
showdown between the two best
' teams in the league, but the
Vikings left little doubt of their
superiority, at least on that day.
In the first quarter, the
Vikings moved the ball early to
the Wingham 8 yard line after
Jon Ginn pulled down a pass
from Quarterback • Tom
Crawford for a 40 yard gain.
However, the_ Vikings lost the
ball on downs after a holding
penalty to Randy Schmidt. The
first Viking touchdown came in
the second quarter when
Crawford hit Bruce Fisher for a

Northern Ontario the couple will
reside in Brantford. Mr. and

brother's wedding.

The Vikings upped the count
to 14-0 in the third quarter
when Crawford and Wayne
Draper combined for a 26 yard
pass and run play. Brown added
the extra, -point.

Vikings only T.D. that came on
the ground with a 10 yard off
tackle run in the final quarter.
Brown converted to run the
score to 22-0. A 21 yard pass
from Crawford to Ginn resulted
in the final .Goderich score.
