given for
Doreen Culbert
Miss Doreen Culbert ,was
guestof honor when a bridal
shower wan" held recently at the
home of Miss Sharon Spivak.
A little game everyone
enjoyed proved that Bernice
Glenn has better co-ordination
than Sharon Dawson and Linda
Durnin.
Each girl present brought
along a recipe for Doreen to try
out.
Doreen was presented with a
scrapbook of her life story for
remembrance sake.
The gifts were then. opened
and lunch was served.
Sharon Spivak and Carol
Culbert were the hostesses.
CHURCH SERVICES
During September, services
will be held in St. Paul's
Anglican Church, Dungannon,
the second and fourth Sunday
and Christ Church, Port Albert,
. the first and third Sunday. Rev.
G. Russell of Goderich will
conduct the services beginning at
2 p.m. Rev'. Odendahl will
resume the ministry in October.

Word has been received here
of the passing of Gerald Curry in
Toronto on Saturday, August
30. He had been in ill health for
a number of years. Services were
• held from Jerret Funeral Home,
Toronto.

UCW meets
Dungannon UCW met in the
church basement for the August
meeting. Mrs. Howard Johnston
presided. The theme was One
Christian Task — To Be
Ambassadors.
Roll call was answered) by 18
ladies with "Something I can do
to help Christianity." Mrs,
Gordon Finnigan was pianist and
Mrs.*,Harvey Alton gaye the
correpondence.
An invitation is extended to
all to attend the "Fall Fashions
,'69" to be presented in
Brookside School on Tuesday
evening, September 9. Three
hundred and twenty-six cook
books .hive been made and most
have been sold.
, Half year reports were given
by convenors of standing
committees, showing a favorable
amount of work done by the
group. Old nylon stockings are
to be left in the church to be
sent to a county where they are
made into useful articles. "First
Name Friends," a humorous
poem, was ° read by. Mrs. T. C.
Anderson.
Mrs. Graham McNee and Mrs.
Nelse Pearson gave the scripture
reading and meditation. Mrs. Mel
Dickson led in an interesting
discussion "Man Alive" followed
by a hymn. The meeting closed -
with a prayer.
The September meeting will
be a joint one with Nile ladies on
September 10 at 2 p.m: in( Nile
Church.

A former Goderich 'Iresident
passed away in Kingston
Hospital on Thursday, August
25. Mrs. Andrew Jondreau, who
before her marriage was Gladys
Sproul, was the youngest
daughter of,gohn Sproul and the
late Mrs. Sproul. She was in her
36th year. She is survived by
,two children, Geraldine . and
Stephen; three sisters and one
brother as well as her father. The
body rested at the Stiles Funeral
Home, Goderich, where many
relatives from this area paid their
respects. Services were held on
Monday with interment in
Maitland Cemetery, Goderich. `L
