The Goderich Signal-Star, 1969-07-17, Page 5a
"'Mere's Always Something
Doing on the Square" ' Mr. -
MacLaren's song is realiy•upheld
THIS week, because there is lots
a -doing with the Art Mart and
Sidewalk Sale.
• So far the weather is fine —'
just keep on a-wishin' and we
can keep it fine all week,
Did you know that besidea•
looking at the paintings and
enjoying a coffee or lemonade at
the Kinnettes Sidewalk Cafe you
• will have tfie chance to buy
some Home-made Baking! Each
day there will be at least one
booth that will have home-made
bread,- buns" and other goodies
that you can cart away with you
— along with a fine painting or
• two - (providing you pay for
them --don't let me mislead you).
The' Art Mart has established
itself and is now an event which
a great many people look
forward to. We certainly have a
need for a "vacationer"
attraction — I don't like to call it
a tourist attraction, since I feel it'
is the family on vabation which
comes rback, each day to browse
among -the crafts and paintings
and pick up that special gift for
someone they know, really
4 • V. enjoys the hand-crafted things.
The 4adies of 'Colborne; The
"Country Crafts will have their
nice things available and they
certainly have a variety. You can
choose gifts for everyone — and
there is a big job well done.
The Legion Ladies hare a
Bake Sale and ' 3 "white
elephant" table. Now, there is a
spot to , find some good buys.
They will be working Thursday,
so rememi)er it.
There will be- so many things
rkt that I can't list them all so you
will have to come each day to
see what's cookin' as it will be
different every day.
The , Catholic - Women's
League has its Bake- Sale on
Friday and on Saturday moping.
The Anglican Church Women's
Evening Guild will have lotsof
goodies fol you. Saturday
afternoon the Ladies of the
-Baptist Church will be out with
their baking and "yummies."
Thursday evening, bn the..
Anglican Church Rectory, lawh,
you can enjoy a delicious
supper. Their "Garden Party" is
'always . a big success so you'd
better be there for 5.30 p.m.
I can't say how many and
how much. of any thing will .be
in the Square these three days,
but it will all be a nice surprise
and you can enjoy the park for
the clay.
The Kinsmen will have games
and such to go along with the
Carnival they have arranged for,
and• they promise there will
never be a dull moment. The
merchants are trying to please
everyone with their seasonal
°sales and you will see some
really big buys.
We had . planned on some
evening entertainment for you —
such as our clever Highland
Dancers, but we are afraid the
carnival music would drown out
the music of the pipes, so Mary
Lynn Telford his promised a
treat for another time.
The man with the sculptures,
Mr. Richard Kramer ,comes all
the way from Ancaster near
Hamilton, so I can't say how
many days he will be with us,
but his craft should , be
interesting.
Ann Fairservice will have
some of her pottery and lovely
paintings and there will be other
beautiful crafts from,a very wide
section of South Western •
Ontario.
