together, work together awl
support the G.F,O. It • is the
farmer himself who is really
responsible for our problems as
all farmers haven't worked '
together for the Agnicultural
good,"
He felt the marketing Wards
fully realize the • need of a
General Farm , Organization and
was sure they could function to
better advantage if the farmers
themselves Would co-operate and
give guidance. •
• Mr. Patterson felt that the
biggest concern was being able
to communicate and not how
membership • would become
effective. • '
"Let us up -date -ourselves as
farmers and change our ways in
trying new, ideas," said Mr.
Hunter.
"If each farmer in Ontario
would pay $10 membership
• immediately the one million
dollars would be raised, to get
G.F.O. functioning," said Mr.
Stafford.

Each local consisting o 1000
farmers would have, a cli ector
and three delegates at the
founding convention. ...a,
For Huron County there are
about 4,000 farmers meaning
four locals and four 'directors
instead of the usual' one the
farmers had in the Federation.
Mr. Hinter asked the people
present to form aAdonunittee to
give- every farmer a chance. to
sign the petition to form a
G.F.O. or to express his reasons
for not doing so. If 5,000 names
are received a vote • will be held
shortly. It was felt perhaps that
there would be two polling
boothes •in Ashfield Township.
Named to the committee
were Jim Martin, chairman; Ross
Eedy, Grant Farrish, Oliver
McCharles and Russ Button. ,
These five men were then
instructed as to how the canvass
should be made. Each one could
get help from two more to .see
that all farmers in Ashfield were
visited and that each man and
his wife would be given the
opportunity to sign the petition.
Rangers defeat Briarwood
Goderich Rangers Soccer
Club travelled . to • Sarnia last
Saturday And • defeated the
Briarwood" Rangers 2.-1 in ,a
closely matched contest.
During the first half neither
team could score with most of
the, game taking plate in the
centre of the field.
Tom Love put the Goderich
team ahead at the 12 minute
mark of the second half, heading
the, ball' over the on-rUshing
Sarnia goaltender into the net.
A • reversal of the referee's
decision at the 16 minute mark
saw the Goderich squad robbed
of a second goal that would have
given them' a commanding lead,
with Goderich in full control of
the; play.
Three minutes later, on a neat
passing play, Tony Verhoef
joofed a six yard sizzler past the
outstretched goaltender for his
fourth of the season, accounting
for half the Goderich goals this
year.
