Police''Constable Tom Fortner (centre) holds• a set of miniature
'lights which was presented to the Police Department duting,the
annual inter -club meeting at the Harbour -lite Inn on Tuesday,
April 29. The lights were donated by Gerry Denomy of Goderich '
Electric (right). On the left is Goderich Police Chief Fred .
Minshall. These lights will be used in kindergarten and in the
primary grades to teach children the use of traffic signals.
Goderich Police Chief Fred Minshall-,presents a trophy to Ralph.
$mitts, supervising principal of Goderich Public Schools, on
behalf of the Goderich Lioris Club for his outstanding work in
traffic safety during the past year. The presentation was made at
the annual inter -club meeting held recently.
Carlow WI sees
handicraft
display . -.
After receiving a reward for his- work in traffic safety, Ralph
Smith presented awards to members of the Goderich Business
College for their participation in an essay contest on the same
subject. Margaret Garrick received a typewriter, which was first
prize for the contest. Other winners were Florence Henley, Ruth
Mahood and Douglas Beaver.

their 700 -acre farm on the 7th
Concession of Ashfield to three
Livingston brothers, William,
Harvey and Clifford of
Brampton, completing a major
land sale of 1,450 acres.
Alvin Collinson has sold his
2.00 acres on the 8th and 9th
Concession,' Lorne Phillips his
sold 150 acres on the 8th and
Warren Zinn has sold 400 acres
on the 7th and 8th also to the
Livingston• brothers who plan to
manage , a� beef and hog
operatioi?
The new owners have already
started into land production and
will take over the houses at the
end of June. •

Arthur and received his early
education in Ontario. He
received ,his B.A. degree from
the University of Manitoba in
1950 and graduated from the
Ontario College of Education in
1951.
He has held positions in three
schools at Sudbury, and also
taught in Port Arthur.
He was vice-principal of
Fergus District High School,
1964-1965 and has been at
Clinton since1965.
• He is a member of . the
Clinton Library " Board and is.
principal of the evening classes
in Clinton.

homeplace and were primarily
cash crop farmers.
In 1966 Mr. Penich was
seriously injured while trying to
repair his combine on the farm
of Gordon Elliot of Amberley.
He underwent two major
operations that year and was left
with only two per cent vision.
With the help of his 'family, he
has managed the farm until now.
He is a registered member of
the CNIB and since his accident'
has learned brail and is an
accomplished typist. His future
-plans are undecided but for the
present will move back to his
Clearville farm.

A display of Canadian
handicraft souvenirs from all the
provinces of Canada showed
how the environment and
background of the people made
the handicrafts, of each province
unique. This display was in
charge of Mrs. Wilyner Hardy.
'Something different known
as a Silent Auction resulted in
buyers for two paintings
donated by Mrs. James Prest and
Mfss Beulah Long. This was in
charge of Mrs. Ray Easom and
Mrs. Koop de Groot.
The Penny ;Sale in charge of
Mrs, Gerald Fisher, Mrs. Heinz
Hoernig and Mrs. Norman Allin
of the Crafts Gfoup provided a
lot of interest to the guests and
many received valuable prizes.
The ever popular bake table
was convened by Mrs. Bernard
Fisher and her helpers. Receiving
the guests were Mrs. Elfred
Moore of the W.I. and Mrs.
Howard Feagan of the Country
Crafts Group who is in charge of
the renovations to the Carlow -
Hall which °are to begin this
month, it is hoped. Mrs. Ken
Fisher and Mrs. James Prest were
in charge of the door. •

There were six tables in play -
at the Goderich Duplicate Bridge
Club Tuesday night. Winners and

SUFFERED STROKE
Naice Martin, Sarnia, who
suffered a stroke about a month
ago,. has been released from the
Sarnia Hospital. He is reported
to be convalescing at his home
there.

25 -mile walk for OXFAM last

DUMPING HOURS
The dump will remain open
24 hours a day now. The two
•hour per day dumping time was
found to be inconvenient for
many users.
KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS
Mr. and Mrs. Mark Dalton
attended the 60th anniversary of
the K. of C. Kilroy Council in
Stratford on Sunday.
Highlight of the occasion, -

presentation of an award to Dan
O'Brien, ,Goderich, only living
Charter member. Dan's son, Joe,
of Goderich, accepted the award
on behalf of his father who is in
the Goderich Hospital.
