Owen Sound goalie,- Terry Orr,_ may have mana&ed to block,
this puck fired by Sifto centre Mayo ,Paquette, but he wasn't
as fortunate with three others which, Paquette drilled. past him
during the Friday night contest here. Siftos' flashy centre eluded
Owen Sound Greys' defencemen more than once during the game
to pace the Siftos' 8-5 victory with a three -goal assault. •

Area fans will have an opportunity Thursday, December 28,
at 8:00 p.m., to see •how a Russian team' stacks up against
a good OHA Junior "A" club.
The Moscow Selects will be at the Kitchener Memorial Audi-
torium at that time and their opposition willbe provided by a
Junior A All Star Club comprised of players from the Kitchener
Rangers,, Toronto Marlboro's and London Nationals.
The best game on the tour of the Russian Nationals last year
was a game at Maple Leat Gardens when. they played a Junior
A All Star team. TLe Ruskies got a goal in the • last three minutes
to win the game 4.3.
.Tire` Selects- will --arrive Canada at Montreal --airport on
December 15. They will -play their first,, game the following
night against the Canadian National's second team; in Hull,
Quebec. •
After a series of games in Western Canada, the Moscow Selects
will return to Ontario and play in Kitchener, December 28,
against the Junior "A" All Stars.

NHL . Clubs don't fool around with players who are late for
,practises or home games, particulhrly the New- York Rangers'
management.
=n episode. related -by Larry Jeffrey, of the Rangers..sub-
.fitiates this claim,
,Larry was heading for the New York Rangers' stadium one
morning when he was caught in a particularly heavy traffic
jam -
As Larry said, "the only time you moved ahead was when
somebody breathed" which gives one an idea of how terrible
a traffic tie-up in .that city can become.
Realizing that he wasn't going to reach the arena in time for
the game, Larry parked his car and strode • the remaining few
blocks on foot. After all, if a player turns up late for a scheduled
game or practise, New York Rangers' management fines hire
$50.00

Speaking of hockey a little Closer to home, it would be grata.
Eying to the. Goderich Junior B Booster Club to see history
repeating itself Friday night when St. Thomas visits the Siftos
at the local arena.
As pointed out `by Richard Madge, the booster club's pub.
Reify director, the last time that the Junior B hockey team
from St. Thomas played in Goderich was the 1962.63 season.
Granted it was a ..crucial play. -off game but the arena was
jammed_to the rafters for the match. Official attendance was
reported as 2300.
Neither before nor since had a hockey game at the Goderich
arena drawn as many. spectators.
St. Thomas.,has traditionally been a powerful Junior B hockey
centre and this. ,year is no exception. Currently the Barons
hold third place in the ,western division of the OHA Junior B
league. This position should qualify them as substantial competi,.
tion for the Siftos, presently tied for third place in the Central
division.
Booster Club officials do not expect apacked i arenarthis
s
Friday night when Goderich's worthy opponents, ,,
meets the Siftos, but they do hope for a healthy increase in the
attendance for this important game.

Officials and coaches of. the Goderich minor hockey association
must have been an. smiles after the 'performance turned in by
their minor hockey teams Saturday.night.
The town's minor hockey squads swept the series.
The first three victories were shut -outs, in whioh the Goderich
Squirt All -Stars, Pee Wee AB -Stars and Bantam, All -Stars in
Meted lopsided defeats on their 2 urich}opponents.
In one of the Zurich-Goderich minor hockey contests, the
Goderich goalie was probably wishing he had a little more work
to do to help him keep warm, He was required -to make only
one atop throughout the entire game.' r
A shortage of ice time helps explain Zurich's Minor hockey
$ teams' fiasco. It was only a week previous to the game that
Zurich had completed installation 02 artificial ice In their
community arena. Henceforth, we can expect improved hockey
- from Zurich's minor teams. • '
Siftos Avenge Loss
to Owen Sound
By Sandy MacDonald
Goderich avenged an earlier
loss to Owen Sound when they
whipped the Greys 8-5 Friday
night here, although the Siftos
sometimes played as though
they didn't enjoy being on the
winning side.
The game had its moments
but, for the most part, the play.
ing from both sides left much
to be desired. Neither team
played as though it was overly.
concerned about the °outcome.
If you harbor silly little
superstitions about hockey
games such As, 'the first side
to score wins the game', then
Friday night's contest would
have prompted you to bet your
....money on the Siftos.
They were first on the score. •

when MacNair, assisted by.
Freeman and Gratto, 'fired one
past Owen Sound' -s. goalie. _ -
Nixon put Owen Sound on even
terms again when he scored at.

Paquette gave Siftos the edge
again when he . picked an un-
guarded corner of the Owen

the game.
Williams found a weak spot
in the Owen Sound goalie's de.
fence at 5:50 and again at 5:51
of the second period.. On the
first tally he was assisted by
. MacNair, a fellow linesman and
• on the second shot, he received
a setup pass from defenseman
Tim Gratto. •
It was centre Mayo Paquette
who• took • over the scoring
honours during the next few
,, moments of the frame. The
two goals he fired, coupledwith
his first period tally, gave the'
Ansonville, flyer his hat trick
for the night.
Steve Doak was credited with
an assist on Paquette's second
goal. Jim Bell helped on his
third tally.

Goderich added a couple of
insurance goals `early in the
third frame. As it happened the
Siftos didn't need the last two
counters to win but they helped
to boost their goal production
and spread the scoring points
around more evenly.
It was Scott, No. 15, who
scored the seventh goal for the
Siftos at 6:33. He was assisted
by Colquhoun.
O'Brien slipped one past the
Grey's goalie in a scramble
around the net to give theSiftos

Colquhoun again got credit for
