Mrs. Murray HetherIiigton,
muslc teacher, organist, choir
leader and many other wonder.
Ail talents, told me how much
she and her Treble Singers en.
joyed ,their Sunday night sing.
song, at the Allen Homstead.
At a meeting, last February
or March, of the Arts and Grafts
group, we were trying to make
a list* of hobbies for which we
might haye instructors and les•
sons to up grade the hobby or
craft. Someone piped u t, -"1
would like to have a "sing for
fun" group - no one it seems,
wants to gather about the piano,
now.a days, and just sing. Others
thought it was a fine idea, -
and the "Treble Singers" were
in the making.
About ten turned upthe first
evening and they ejoyed the
singing so much, they decided
to do it often. Mrs. Hethering•
ton was asked to be their leader
and with so many fine voices
they were soon singing for our
pleasure. She has really made
them work and they are now
quite professional. They have
had to turn down a great num.
•ber of engagements.
There are about forty voices
now, and this week they are
putting on a full evening per.
fdrmance for the first time.
This will be in Brussels and they
hope to entertain in Gkderich
tilts fall. Mrs. Hetherington, de.
serves a big vote of thanks
for creating such a fine choir.
I have another who has work.
ed very hard, - F/O A. F.
Brabant of CFB Clinton. He is
fairly well known in Goderich,
plainly in connection with the,
Little Theatre.
"Al" was head of recreation
at CFB Clinton and had already
made a fine start in a theatre
group for Clinton; called "The
Pegasus Players."Het has acted,

Al.' He won't forget Centennial
year - ever.
I talked to Les Turner about
his Centennial project. A boat
of hi'`'own, built byhis`own
efforts was his project. He
started it in October 1966 and
it was completed before the July
1st Parade.
He worked fax, far into the
night making the many parts
which go into a boat as large
as a seven foot .six by 20'footer.
After he 'made all the pieces
in the basement he assembled
them in his garage, and to
and behold everything falls into
place! Fits like a dream - and
it was '-a:- dreani come true!
It took 415 hours before it
hit assembly and now never a
leak - pretty good Les! We
have a young lady, Catriona
Dyke. She was about 13 years
old when she wrote and told
us she was knitting 100 squares
for a Centennial spread ' which
