Local hockey fans will get
their first look at the Goderich
SiLtos• in Junior""C" competition
this Friday night at the Goderich
arena.
The 11fant,ford Chiefs, a Jun-
ior'C" team from the Inter -Cou-
nty Junior Hockey League will
provide the opposition for coach
Doug Cruickshank's charges.
The Chiefs play in a league
with Woodstock, Paris, Dundas,
Simcoe, and In,gersol(. The In-
gersoll club, the Marlands, coach-
ed by Don Fin ps, former play-
ing coach, of Goderich Samis
Pontiac Intermediates - of some
years back, were originally
scheduled to play here Friday.
Changes in the Inter -County
0Leagues' schedule made'this im-
possible, but Sifto team officials
were successful in arranging the
game with the Chiefs who should
provide a good test for the local
squad.
Coach Cruickshank sees this
game as an excellent chance to
test some of his players under
fire before the beginning of the

the ladies in Huron County are
certainly no exception.
This fall, leaders from 19 clubs
will attend training schools in
Clinton board roam, Ontario De-
partment of Agriculture and
Food, on Oct. 24, 25 and in Wing -
ham Salvation Army Sunday
School Rooin Oct. 26 and Tr-
-Sessions on both days will ' ex-
tend from 10 am. to 4 p.m.

onto, will instruct, the leaders
on how to choose .a becoming
hat, the method of altering a
commercial shape to fit the head,
.the selection of suitable fabrics
and trimmings and the tech-
niques used in hat constru•otion.
The leaders then hold four ,meet-
ings to Show the ladies in their
area the techniques they have
learned. The project is con-
cluded with a Summary Day.
Although these projects are

mittee has initiated a Sir John
A. Macdonald essay contest. The
.corutest has been divided into
a junior section which consists
of students registered in grades
• seven to ten inclusive in public
and separate schools in Gode-
rieh..a n4--th o-1Anships--9i—fi od e --
rich, Ashfield and Colborne, and
a senior section consisting of
•students of grades eleven
through thirteen living in the
aforementioned areas who are
registered at GDOY or the Clin-
ton Huron Secondary School.
The essay must not exceed
one thousand words in the
junior division *and two thou-
sand 'words in the senior divi-
sion, an{{'� must be completed

The builders moved in on
Monday. The noise is fantastic,
but what is even more annoying
is that we can't see what's mak-
ing all the racket. The lower
windows of most of .the rooms
have been white -washed! I
