The Goderich Signal-Star, 1966-10-13, Page 14•ctober 13, 1966 The iuoderich Signal -Star, Thursday,. @ �, Report Dungannon Boy Unconscious In London DUNGANNON-We are sorry to report the serious illness of Laird Spivak, 12 -year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. John Spivak, Laird took suddenly ill at school last Tuesday and was treated by local doctors and removed by am- bulance to Victoria Hospital, • London, where he remained in an unconscious condition until Sunday, when he regained con- sciousness. At time of writing we are pleased to report an inpprdvement in his condition. -Patricia Hedy otf Strathroy was a visitor with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Irvine Eedy for the holiday weekend. John Wilson and family of Toronto, visited with her .tnother, Mrs. Esther Rivett. On their return they. were accompanied by Mrs: Rivett, who will visit with them for a few days before leaving to spend the winter in Western Canada. Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Kilty of ,Oakville and Mr. and Mrs. Harold Kavanaugh" of Detroit, were here this weekend to close up their cottages. Mr. and Mrs: Albert McGee, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Taylor and Mr. and Mrs. Robert Hoy spent the weekend in Windsor and Amherstburg and attended the funeral of Mr. McGee's brother-in-law, Mr. Charles Flem- ing. The Ladies `Guild met in the basement of Christ Church on Tuesday. There were 11 mem- bers. Bales were packed 'to send to an Anglican Mission in North- ern Quebec. Mrs. Graham read a verse about prayer. Mrs. Agnes Foster told of her trip to Tim- mins. Rev. Jay closed the meet- ing with prayer. Lunch was serv- ed. Rev. Wright will be showing slides of New Brunswick on Oct. 17 at --8• p.un. in St. Andrew's United Ohurdh. CWL Plans Penny 'Sale The October meeting of St.. Peter's C.V.L. was 'held in the church hall with 23 memabers present and C.W.L. members from Wingham. The meeting was chaired by.' ' Mrs. Clem Stefiler, the president. Mrs. Joohn Buchanan read the minutes. Mrs. Jim Sherratt read thetreasurer's report. Mrs. Dan Murphy gave the . life story of St. Francis: It was agreed to give a Ros- ary for their first communion and also to' purchase Baptism Certificates for all new parents. The Deanery meeting will be held next Wednesday, Plans were made at hold a penny sale with the pat luck supper in November. Mrs. Richard Buchanan will be in charge and proceeds° will go to the Vanier Institute. A mass will be held for the deceased •of the parish on Nov- ember 11. A plastic demonstration was displayed by Mrs. Mary Hehn oaf Wingham. Lunch was served 1 by Mrs. Jae Connelly. OBITUARY FRANK C. WALMS A funeral was held last Thurs- day at the Arthur funeral home for Frank Clayton (Shorty) Walters, 52, of Ingersoll, who died at the hong of his sister, Mrs. D. E. Glidden and Mr. Glid- don of Holmesville. Ile was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Walters and was born in Colborne Township. He serv- ed with the Canadian Army in the Second World War in Korea. He is survived by one bro- ther, . Benson, Toronto; two sisters, Mrs. D. E. (Maizie) Glid- don, Hobmesville; Mrs. Arthur E. (Dorothy) Grange, Auburn. Rev. Stewart Miner of Thames Road conducted the service at the Arthur funeral home and burial took place in Colborne cemetery. Pallbearers were Elmer Fisher, Lepnard Fisher, Grant Fisher, Benson Straughan, Frank Flick and Arnold Allis. Flowerbearers were members from the Royal Canadian Leg- ion, Ingersoll Branch 119. The project, designed to per- petuate for posterity the tootls,- implernents and pioneers of the past, will be located in Railton Oolinty. Bounded on the north by "the Macdonald -Cartier Freeway, on the east by the town line of Nassagaweya•' and lsqueSing Townghips, and on the south by the Halton County Conservation Authority's Park and 'Lake Kel- so, the location will provide easy access for visitors.
