Mrs. Douglas Gill, Oakville, was her cousin's matron of hon- or ornor and bridesmaids were Mrs. Gordon Hall of Burlington, cou- sin of the bride; Mrs. Rix Gra- ham of Peterborough, and Miss Neta Sherwood,n Goderich, The attendants' floorelength gowns were fashioned with sheath skirts of sweetheart pink silk crepe and bodices of sugar beet silk velvet. A narrow fold of matching pink peau de seie outlined the high rise waistlines ending in a soft bow at the back. Shallow scooped ;necklines fram- ed the empire bodices which featured below -the -elbow sleeves gathered to a band of pink peau de soie with miniature bow. Their headpieces repeated the style of the sleeves in the form of small French berets in sugar beet velvet banded in pink peau de soie caught with a side bow. They carried arm cascades shad- ed pink to burgundy of' fey h- ered carnations, asters, sweet- heart roses, straw flowers, steph- anotis and heather with trailing clusters of tokay grapes and knotted with narrow sweetheart pink velvet ribbon. Groomsman was Jack Merritt of Dunnville. Ushering the. guests from Napanee, Peter- borough, Lindsay, Newmarket, Oakville, Toronto, Hamilton, Burlington, Oshawa, Guelph, Grand - Valley, London, Clinton and Goderich were Donald Lech, Peterborough; David Campbell, Clinton; Gordon Hall, Burling- ton, and Douglas Gill, Oakville. The reception was held at the Harbourlite Inn. For her daueh- •ter's wedding, Mrs. Ellis chose a, street -length ensemble of Thai silk in a golden sunset cel-. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and,Mrs. George L,. ,I •Ellis, Goderich, and • the groom is the son of Mrs. Marg- aret AUchin and the late Mr. Raymond D. Foster, Peter- borough, Ontario. The double -ring exchanges • of vows was heard by Rev. Don- ald MacDonald in a communion service. Lighted tapers in candelabra adorned with white gladioli and greenery illuminated the altar. Bouquets were of white gledloli, shaggy mums and emerald fol- iage. Lance Reed, Goderich, pre- sided at the organ and Mrs. James Bisset, Goderich, sang "Wedding Prayer," "0 Father All Creating" and, as the couple kneeled at the altar, "The Wed- ding Hymn." Mr. Ellis gave his daughter in marriage. Her floor -length gown of French silk velvet was styled on sheath lines with a . detachable panel train falling from the waistline. The high- rise waistline was encircled with sculptured rosebuds and similar rosebuds were scattered, above the hemline of the skirt and the lower edge of the scalloped; train. The elbow -length sleeves of the molded bodice, which featured a shallow scooped neck- line, were also banded in rose- buds. The cathedral - length bridal veil and blusher of im- ported silk illusion was held by a cluster of white rosebuds and velvet leaves 'tipped with seed pearls. She carried a soft cascade of pink chiffon sweet- heart roses, pink straw- flowers, Queen Anne's lace, heather- and Prayers For Mrs: Lamb • France imported lace at the deep V -neckline.' Similar lace motifs accented the hip -length jacket. She were matching ac- cessories and a hat of silk and velvet, petals in shades of gold deepening ,to a light bronze.. Green-eym:bidium orchids form- ed her purse corsage. The groom's mother wore a classic 'sheath jacket dress of cranberry silk crepe with mat- ching accessories, A hat of white ostrich tips and, a purse corsage of red -throated white eymbidium orchids completed her ensemble. , For their•wedding trip to Que= bee City and Northern Ontario, the bride changed to a three- piece Italian knit costume suit of Bahama green with elong- ated jacket, Her hat was" of black velvet and • she wore black patent accessories and a coa'- saae of white gardenias. They will reside in Clinton. Pre -Nuptial Events • Prior to her marriage, the •bride was honored •at a lunch- eon party and' presentation at which Mrs. A. Gordon Kerr was hostess at her summer cattage; at a mother and daughter supper party with a presentation and pantry shell shower given by Mrs. Roy Breckenridge and her daughter, Mrs. Herbert Murphy, at the forrner's home; at a kit- chen shower hostessed by Mts. Stewart Snider, Waterloo, at the home of her mother, -Mrs. Leslie Pentland, Goderich; at a coffee and dessert party and presenta- tion with a shower of spices and. recipes arranged by Mrs. Rix Graham, Peterborough, at- the• home of her mother, Mrs. R. W. Hughes, Goderich. • Mr. and Mrs. R. S. Atkey held a `dinner party in honor of the bride and groom -elect at their ,home in Clanton and presented each of them with a host. and hostess gift. Mrs. G. Chamney and Mrs. Percy McBride were named lead- ers of new course "Hats for You." A donation of $15'was „ voted to the blind. Mrs. Elmer Robertson and Mrs. Terence Hunter , were appointed dele- gates to the fall rally at Auburn on Oct. 3 and Mrs. Norman Allin was appointeddelegate.to the Area Convention to be held in Goderich Nov. 2. An invita- tion was accepted to the Blyth meeting Oct. 6. It was an- nounced that at, the October meeting, this intititte would entertain Blyth 'W.I. and Mrs. 'Robert Bean and Mrs. Ernest Mitchell were put in charge of a Penny Sale. Last minute plans were made regarding plowing match: Pies were to be frozen for use when needed. Craft articles for display were to •be ready at that time too. Mrs. Robt. Bean show- ed sample blocks of the Centen- nial quilt which is being made by the group. It would need 640 names. It was hoped that the members would all get busy and get names of Colborne residents„ past and present to fill the quilt top by November meeting. It. was decided to serve tea St a local sale being held in Novem- ber. The resignation of the sec- retary -treasurer, Mrs. James Horton was accepted with re- gret.
