Baird Investing in a Spring tune-up and the neglecting to change your carburetor air filter is like sleeping with a short blanket: you pull it up to warm your face end your feet get cold. There's not much net You.- filter is the windpipe of • your .motor. Factory studies. show 18 pounds of air for one pound of gasoline• is needed at . Summer temperature to get 'the . most energy out of the fuel. This.is 2,000 cubic feet ---enough to fill a • room 10' by 20' -for every- gallon 'of gas at 60 mph. When road grime clogs :your •filter, your carburetor gets Tess air. than it needs. The gasoline - air mixture _becomes too rich in fuel. Economy goes down and so does power. It has been proposed that the land involved, overlook- ing the river, be developed as a picnic area as a centen- nial project. Mayor 1Valkom, who attend- ed the centennial planning workshop in Goderich earlier the same day, reported that officials of the centennial planning branch of the depart- ment of tourism and inform- ation .were pleased with the attendance., '- "They were agreeably sur- prisEd by the number that turned out," said the mayor. He said 15 persons from Goderich .attended the work - shoo and el,ght members of Huron County Council. Total attendance was 75 said the mayor. He said only .45 persons had attended a similar workshop in London. "Goderich centennial' coin. mittee ought to be congratul- ated on the manner in which they tackled it," he comment- ed.
