Costa Of Car
$26 A Week
By H.A,,. Baird
It was' recentlyestimate.
'
d the
average motorist spends $26oper
week on his car. This includes
the financed purchase price, an-
nual depreciation, insurance,
licence, and at course, oil and
gas.
The fact this represents more
money"than some families spend
on their homes indicates how
importaht the automobile has
become to all of us. Its im-
portance has made the car in-
dustry the largest single busi-
ness in •thi. country by far.
Is i'. possible for the average
motorist to get More value out
of nes motoring dollar than he
paw does? We think so. So
we're .planning to devote this
space each week to sone plain
balk about the automobile busi-.
ness.
How can a motorist dealmost
wisely who is trading in his
old car on a tnew one? Or make
the even more difficult decision
of what used car to buy? And
how can he get the most per-
formance *satisfaction out of the
car he now has?
This industry is changing rap-
idly, even fir our changing
world Being on the inside
looking out we like to share
some of our knowledge of this
busint''ss- with` you. We're sure
a lot nf. ]tight can be shed on .a
problem by discussing it im
partially:
Marketing ' 'studies . show 65
percent of buyers are looking
for useful information .before
buy-rn-g~-•their---ear: - We hop
you'll find at least some of what
we have to say fills this need
as we11 as proving interesting.
See you next week. • Advt.
