next summer and will be re-
quired in addition to any re-
quired provinc al licence by all
bunters of ducks, geese, snipe,
woodcock and- other Migratory
,game birds: `hree permits will
be issued to Indians and Es-
k%mos: Distribution problems in
remote areas may result ' in a
one-year suspension of the re-
quirement for Indians and Es-
kimos and in the Yukon and
Northwest Territories.
Mr. Laing said that the per-
mit—and the kill survey it will
make possible --are only part
of a comprehensive National
Wildlife rrogram which he
hopes to outline in the House
of Commons soon.
The idei 'of the permit has
been supported by the Canadian
Wildlife Federation and by
other hunters', and naturalists'
groups. Mr. , Laing explained
that the permit is 'necessary to
find out how many waterfowl
bunters there are in Canada,
where, when and how often they
hunt; and how many waterfowl
of each species .they harvest.
This kind of Information is vital
to effective management of opr
Waterfowl resouice.
It has been estimated that

there'are shout 350,000 water-
fowl hunters in Canada and that
theyspend about $30 millionn
each year on their spo;.t.
The following information
will he given to hunters with
}the wa.let-sized permit:
You need a Canada Migratory
Game Bird Blunting Permit to
hunt. ducks, -coots, rails, wood-
cock, mourning doves, geese,
gallinules;, •snipe, sandhill
cranes, band -tailed pigeons.
This permit must be signed by
the hunter whose "name and
home address were recorded
when the permit was purchas-
ed. The permit is not trans-
ferab'e.
Only r one Canada' Migratory
Game Bird 'Hunting Permit
is required even if you hunt
in more than' one'province or
territory.
This permit does not' replace
a provincial or territorial lis-
ence. The Canadian permit, is
required in addition to any
other, licencc(s) that you must
have.v You must conform
with the 'migratory bird reg-
ulations and applicable pro-
vincial and territorial hunt-
ing regulations. •

ada Migratory Game Bird Hunt-
ing Permit you are contributing
to Canada's' expanding program
of wetlands preservation and
waterfowl research and manage-

Planned For loronto
The Ontario Department, of
Education will, stage the second
Student Ti.lent Festival in the
theatre of the Ontario Govern-
ment Build:ng.,,during the Can--
adian National, Exhibition,- Aug -
gust 19 °to September fi, 1966.
'Talented students in the fields
of dancing and vocal and ins
strumental, music from element-
ary and: secondary schools
throughout Ontario are invited
to take part.
The students who are selected
will perform two or three times
during one day of the Festival.
A new show featuring new to--
ent will be presented each day
throughout the period of the
Exhibition.
A professional Master of Cere-
monies will introduce each per-
former and a Musical Director
will assist with piano' arrange-
ments and accompaniment when
necessary. Students who have
to travel some distance to at-
tend'wi-ll be accommodated over-
night. Al' participants will re-
ceive lunch and dinner. •

The first Student' Talent Fes-
tival which was staged lask year
involved 258 students from 15
Elementary and 12 Secondary
Metropolitan Schools • and 20
Elementary and 19 Schools,
Schools in other ' parts of the
Province.
Each pal ticrfant was present-
ed- with an embroidered blazer
crest. The students played to
capacity audiences who were
overwhelmingly appreciative.

The Student Talent Festival
will not be a competition' but
rather an opportunity for stu-
dents of Ontario schools to par-
