Judge- 8., . S.etherington was named arbitrator in a re - pert of the public school con- .sultatiye committee.. °Since" tlie•. `committee is aware of: the fact that ani de- lay will cause concern to • the trustees of ' Huron County. School Aiea No. 1," the re- port stated, "it is requested that a 'decision be reached on or before April 12." The consultative committee comprises Reeve Carl Dalton, Seaforth; Reeve Wilmer Hardy, Colborne, and Deputy Reeve Everett McIlwatn, Goderich.. Township. In company with, Inspector James Kinkead, they had wrestled with the matter for two days before county coun- cil met.' Reeve Hardy told council: "Until the question is settled, the departments of education and municipal affairs wtll•not grant permission to build." "There is only one way to handle this,'declared Reeve Clarence Boyle, Exeter. "We are going to have • to have a board of, education in the county. The sooner council members get down to think- ing in broad terms, the soon- er they will have all such questions resolved." Pulled Rug "Some members," ° s a I'd Reeve Hardy, "appear to think the committee has pull- ed the, rug from under their feet, but we have had it rou4h and heavy:, 'This is-a'great injustice to the children, and those town- ships whielf .already have the pr-operty .and.. have. siletrt a large'amount. ' "If aP?°petition is not acted upon by :the local) council," said Mr. McIlwain, "a petition is sent' to county council, which has power to appoint an arbitrator. With '.he pro: paganda going an, it would be' a problem ta get anyone un- biassed.' Reeve Talbot, Stanley: "I should like to say for publica- tion we have not approved the debentures yet, only prelim- inary approval." Warden Stewart: "We real- ized we had to bring in some report today. This looked like a solution that would be carried. In Ietting a contract for the school there is a time factor,' and tenders might have to be withdrawn,,,, and the school board or Stanley would lose a lot of money." e Mr. Berry said he would notify Judge Hetherington first thing Monday, "and he can set up his own investiga- tion." The consultative committee reported that it could not deal with an appeal from certain Tuckersmith ratepayers 'who _had requester: the municipal council to form a union school section with Hensall: the ap- plication was not made under Section 48. In, the Morris -East Wawa - nosh case, the committee "be- lieves that any transfer of property will -not solve the 'problerp, and since it appears WINA, HONDA IN THE SIC KEDS BAR FLEX "WIN SOME WHEELS CONTEST" that it is impossible to pro- ceed, with the building pro- grams at Belgrave, Blyth and _Brtt[s`s'els atttnis-t nae, rde&nite action 'should be taken. Ac- cordingly, the committee re- commends that the East Wa- Wanosh Township school area be added to the Morris Town- ship school area." Reeve Procter, Morris, thought it best "for all -con- cerned that we have three schools in this larger area, and the sooner we get this thing under 'way the better for everybody." 'Reeve Snell of East Wawanoslr said: "I will certainly go back and see what can be done." 21 ' Skaters Pass Tests a Finlists: 4nnounced For Crdma FestivaJ Three high schools from this region, all winners in their dis- trict festivals, ;will • compete on Wednesday April 6, at Brant- ford 'Collegiate Institute, in one of the regional compe'titi'ons of Simpsons-- Sears Ontario Col- legiate Drama Festival.
