Our disbelief in the theory was dispelled by, his demonstra- tion. Sound did travel along the model beam and did .stop when a solid object (his hand) interruptea the 'beam. Social Highlight , 'Weeks- before the' formal I started getting the student body opinion on it. Every 4r1 I spoke to wanted to go to it. 'They, felt that it was the highlight in the social life of G.D.C.I. , Best of all, they looked for- ward to getting dressed for., a- new hairdos, more glamorous make-up, and 'heavenly dresses. They seemed to think that this was one night when theY' could fulfil their girlhood dreams - beautiful people, beautiful cloth- es, a heavenly night -and the guy they're with. I asked them what they thought about tuxedos for the boys:" After all, if the girls have all the fun getting dressed up, why shouldn't the gnys? Some thought that GDCL guys did not have the sophistication to carry it off. I took this as an insult to the guys here. They do have what it takes to wear a tux. .... Or Somiithing Some boys didn't really like formals; that is, they'd 'rather go hunting or something. But they went out of curiosity and to join the crowd. Others 'want- ed to go because they felt that the formal wat, a good excuse to enjoy '"Iiigh-braw music." Altday--Fri d ay- the-decora trig committee slaved to transform GDCI into Camelot. It took a lot of work but it was worth it. The 'walls be- tween the gyms had been brick- ed and shields and crests hung from these new, walls.
