Goderich Kinsmen Club was
formed mote than 17 years ago
when a charter night was held
on May -15, 1947 "in the British
Exchange Hotel.
Sponsored by the Stratfdrd
club there were 25 charter
members who were congratul-
ated by representatives ,of Kin
clubs throughout the province.
The local' club was honored
by a visit from '"Pop" Rogers,
father of the founder xof Kins-
men Clubs, •I al Rogers ,.at tile.
charter meeting.
DUring the early years the
club members resorted to fund-
raising activities by either raf-
tting-off cars or holding a car-
nival once. a year.
Most of these funds were ear ----
narked for- _ a `special nursery
for the new hospital wing 'which
was then . nearing 'completion.
From its formation the local
Kin Club has devoted hundreds
of thousands of man hours to
raising money- for worthwhile
pr ojeclts-to-benefit-tire•-peepl•e-of--
Godierich and the surrounding
-area.
In 1949 Kin. Pat Patterson led
the movement which reoitaniz
ccl the local Octogenarian Club.
The club howl been founded a
quarter of a century previously'
,and still 'remains as a priority
project for Kin work.
In'T 1950 it was decided to
