It. is becoming- more and
more apparent that there will
be an organized Juvenile base-
ball team operating in Goder-
ieb this year. Another work-
out was _held last Friday night
and there ,was one last night
as well. It is still too early to
tell how- good or bad a club it
will be: At any rate the club
has been asked to enter an
Intermediate league with Ex-
eter, Zurich and Staf#a. Bi1I
FritaJ-ey has agreed to coach
the (dub and 1g. will have ade-
quatt assistance from about
four other gentlemen who have
agreed to help. -
The next thing the - boys will
need will be uniforms. With-
in tbe__next _few days boys will
be calling on places of bitsi-'
ness to enlist 'heir support to
the tune of one uniform.- If
sixteen or seventeen places of
business will cooperate it will
cost them the price of just one
"uniform or a tot a.l- sum of
from $12.00, to $15.00. Each
uniform will bear the name of
the firm who donated it, on
the back.
The players who are 'turning
out (some 25 in all) are very
enthusiastic about the pros-
pects o once agar n m gl Irtg
baseball. We trust that their
enthusiasia won't be damip-
eneti by lack of cooperation.
pointed when you visit Agri-
cultural Park to see them play.
Our two local soccer teams
are not doing too well in the
win category or -in attendance.
The Conklin . Lumber squad
has lost two and won one while
the Goderich Building Centre
soccer club has lost all three
of their starts. Last night the
two local teams went at it in
Agricultural Park. There.,, is no
love lost between the two
teams. From both sides of the
fence we have heard such re-
marks as, "If we don't` beat
them I'll -hang- up my shoes."
Crowds for the soccer games
are around the 100 Mark and
this is down about 100 from
last year. It would appear that
the two local teams are split-
ting the crowd. For those who
like soccer, we suggest that
you will be well pleased with
t -he brand that the two clubs
display.
