y,
Our last column printed car-
ried a pretty strong blast again-
st the WOAA for their handl-
ing" of players who indulge in
rough play.
We were interested in talking
with. a WOAA referee recently
and while he himself agreed
that the presentation of oui
case was not 41,exaCtly proper
to his mind', 117 telt that the
end had justified the means.
He claims that the whole WOM
set up from minor to inter-
mediate has called down to the
point where you wouldn't real-
ize it was the same league.
Apparently, the boys are now
sticking to hockey, knowing
what will result if they don't.
If our cases and ot'iers, which
were handled on the saine
night, have helped tito curtail
the rough and dirty play, then
all we can say is AMEN.
Local people who drove oui
Pee Wee, Bantam and Midget
players to Leamington have
been calling up telling us that
over 500 people were in attend-
ance for the three contests.
Their inference, of course, is
that it would appear Leaming-
ton people are more interested
in •the1 local teams than Gode-
rich people are. You know they
are absolutely right. They ask-
ed us to mention that the same
three games will be played in
our arena this Saturday night
to which I say, what the H—
is• the use! There will still tie
just the same old guard down
at the arena• to watch.
Don't forget the Gala Sports
Night that will take place in
the Arena on Friday starting
at 8 p.m. There will undoubt-.
edly he a good deal of fun at-
tached to the event but you will
also ,see some good hockey at
the same time,
Ma:Yee Ernie Fisher has bet
Johnny Brent a new hats that
the Goderich Old Timers will
take the CKNX sports in their
exhibition game. To make s.4u'e
he doesn't- have to pay off on,
the bet Ernie himself is coining
out of retirement.
There will be a good hockey
game to watch when the God
rich Bantam All -Stars face oil
against the Detroit Bantams.
These lads , play a good brand
of hockey. Besides the two
hockey games, there will be t,
broomball game between the
Knights of Columbus and the
Shriners. While these Pare the
two organizations involved in
sponsoring this event there--w'al
he no holds barred in the match.
