An old directory 'lists him as deputy clerk of the Crown, and he was one of the leading laymen of St. George's Anglican Church. William ' Cay - ley must have been a close friend;• it is Dr. Hamilton's de- scendants who bear the Cayley name. Married "Vico Dr. Hamilton married twice' and had nine children. A son born two months before the father died in 1858 was chris. tened William Cayley. A cur- ious• bit of information about this William Cayley Hamilton appears in the newspaper re- port of a public, address by Hon. M. C. Cameron, of Gode- rich, taking office as lieutenant - governor of the ,,Northwest Ter- ritories in 1898. .
