•Goderich 'and Clinton Juven-
iles. battled to a 5-5 tie here
Wedriesdey night of last week,
in a game that „ produced 50
minutes in penalties. Goderich
had the dubious distinction of
picking minutes. Pettus
seemed to like the sin bin as
he sae it out for 21 minutes.
Goderich led the visitors 2
to 1 at the end of the first per-
toct, --*Maetton-aid -scoring both
goals. Assists.. were Crawford
with two and 'Robinson wile
picked up, an assist on the see-
ond MacDonald Nal. 'Cooper
scored the lone Clinton tally.
Both teams scofed twice in
the second -period. It was- Yeo
twice for Clinton at 17:12 and
18:06. Rowlands from Pieder
prochiced a Goderich marker
at the 8fsecond mark and then
pinder „picked up his— second
point of the night when he
scored unassisted at 10:41.
Clinton produced the tie
game when they outscored the
local Juvs. 2 to 1 in the final
stanza. Clinton goals were by
Murney unassisted at 11:29 and
Robiuson produced' for the
home club at 13:32 on a -solo
effort.
This was the second game be-
tween these two clubs ay,fth

Legion Holds
-Christmas Draw
'Over 70 prizes were won
Friday night at the Legion
Christmas draw. Prizes were
won by people from Sarnia,
Loedon, Blyth, Clinton, Sault
Ste. Marie, Port Colborne and
Tom R,ompf made- the draws
for 28 turkeys, 16 chickens, eight
hams and many miscellaneous
prizes whieh were donated by
merchants, breweries and dis-

chance they had in the 'entire
third period which belonged to
Goderich all the way. Wood
stock could - only muster five

on the very same type of play
with Patterson getting a pass

4-2 To Sarnia
Gary Keatley put the puck
in the net twice Tuesday night
as the Siftos dropped a 4=2
decision to the Sarnia Legion-
naires in Sarnia.
The Goderich boys could only
mester 16 shots on the Sarnia
net while John Harris was call-
ed upon 33 times.
This was only Sarnia's fifth
win itithe last 15 games.
Knox Presbyterian Church
held its annual candlelight car-
ol service which this year fea-
tured 'carols written during or
before the 16th century. The
service WaS: under the direction
of Hermee De Jong, with both
sermonette entitled "The Great
est Gift of All".

TO GODERkH
Wide-eyed yOungsters, accom-

the annual Santa Claus appear-
ance at Goderich Saturday af-

handed,- out the gifts .at the
Fire Hall and there were nearly
1,600 packages. They included
500 pounds of candies, 500
pounds of peanuts and bushels

rector of St. George's Anglican
Church is one of five new
canons of St. Paul's Cathedral
appointed by Rt. Rev. G. N.
Lu>iton, Anglican Bishop of
Huron.
Canon Kenneth Taylor was
born in Fredericton, N.B., but
received his early education in
Kingston and graduated from
Queen's University.' He obtain-
ed his master of arts degree
from Oxford University, Eng-
land, and his theological train-
ing at Oxford and at General
Theo egical Seminary in New
ork He- hholds caeheno
degree of doctor of divinity
from both the University of
Western Ontario and Anglican
Theological College of British
Columbia. -
He was ordained a priest in
1925 by the Bishop of Montreal,
and first serve as assistant
curate at TrMity Memorial
Church, Montreal. From 1930
until 1937 he was rector -of St.
Mark's Church, London, and
from 1937 until 1940, rector of
St. John's Church, St. Thomas.
From, 1933 to 1939 he .was lec-
turer at Huron College.
He was appointed a canon of
St. Paul's Cathedral in 1946
but_relingixished the title when
he left the Diocese of Huron
for Vancouver.
Following the Second World
Ware Canon ,Taylor. was Dean
of Residence and Professor ae
Heiron College and the Ueivers-
ity of Western Ontario before
he was appointed principal of
the Anglican Theological -Col-
lege in VancouV'er. He return-
ed to the Diocese of Huron as
rector of St. George's Church„
Goderich, in 1952.

Six Goderich girls were
among those who recently at-
tended a course in synchronized
swimming which was held at
Owen Sound under the leader-
ship of the Community Recre-
ation Program Branch of" the
Ontario Department of Educa-
tion. They were: Sheila and
Linda Brown, Joan Davis, Elea-
nor Davidson and Donna Dock.

Cost of ahe two-day stay at
Owen Sound was.underwritten
partly by the girls participating
and partly by the Goderieh Ree-
reation Committee. Two of the
fathers provided the transport-
ation with their ears.
The girls returned home
brimming over with enthus-
iasm for the training they re-
ceived in ornamental swim-
ming. They believe ,that every
member of the -group benefitted

Mrs. Rotcliffe, of Toronto,
gave a demonstration of various
Iand and water skills. A film
was shown to illustrate the
synchronizing of the skills to
Robeit Christie, Rec-
reation Director, of Walkerton,
gave a ballet to demonstrate
grace and poise in the water.
The Goderich Recreation
Committee hopes to be able to
arrange for further advanced
leadership training during the
Easter holidays.
