terian ministers coming from
GoderiCh to conduct the ser-
vices, In June, 1865, the Pres-
byterians opened their own
church, Bethany, on the sixth
concession farm now owned by
Alvin Bettles. When fire de-
stroyed. the frame building in
1885,1he.,.gongregation managed
to- erect a Ijr1dk church which
opened the following year.
In 1925, Bethel Methodist and
Bethany Presbyterian churches
joined to become one new unit
in. the United Church of Can-
ada: _ Wh-en-.'the'-present -United-
Church building, known as
Grace United, was • erected,
Bethel and Bethany churches
were torn down.
The present pulpit of Grace
