Reunion Held
The 126th family, reunion of
the Salkeld family was held last
Sunday at the Goderich Summer
School camp with 65 members
of the family present.
Games and races were enjoyed
under the convenership of Mr.
and Mrs, Gary Suchard. Mr.
Douglas Blacker, the • president, .,
for the"` paste year, was master
of ceremonies and presided for
the election of officers. President
for the coming year is Lawrence,
Salkeld, of Lucknow; vice-presi-
dent, Horton Talmay, Goderich;
secretary -treasurer, Mrs. Brent
Nelson. It is planned to, hold
the family picnic again next year
the second Sunday in June.

on Elgin avenue, just west of
the intersection with Cambria
road, a car suffered $900 dam-

strangers in town.
The car, driven by Edward
Armstrong, 25, of Simcoe, On-
tario, travelled 81 feet on the
shoulder of -the north side of
Elgin avenue, after failing to
knake the curve normally, side-
swiped one tree, then crashed
.head-on into another' tree some
27 feet farther on.
In the car with Mr. Armstrong
were his wife, the former Elaine
Mitchell, 18, daughter of Mrs.
L. Mitchell, Britannia road, add
the owner of the car, Gordon
Wakeling, 25, also of Simcoe.
Mrs. Armstrong suffered a dis-
located right hip, several knee,
arm and forehead lacerations
and also stomach injuries. The
Iatter resulted in the birth, soon
afterwards in hospital, of her
stillborn child. Mr. Armstrong
received a broken nose and leg

iliary met Monday afternoon in
the Board Room at the hospital
with Mrs: A. Nicol presiding:
Final arrangements for the
hospital ten and the ,penny sale
were discussed. Plans were
made to set up the display of
prizes and ballot boxes at Den-
omme's Flower Shop. Balloting
will begin Thursday, June 22nd
and continue until Juir 6th.
An enjoyable cup of tea con-
cluded the meetings until Sep-

PAYS FINE
Morley Linnington was arrest
ed on a commitment warrant for
non-payment of a fine last Sat-
urday morning. He paid the fine
and was later released.
Logan Allan McLean, 24, Rich-
ard Earl Littlechild, 23, and Pat-
rick Ralph Cook, 22, of R.R. 3,
Goderich, were arrested for hav-
ing liquor illegally last Saturday
about 1.30 a.m.

THEIR 40TH ANNIVERSARY
Married 40 years ago in Col-
borne' Township, Mr. and Mrs.
Hume Clutton celebrated the
anniversary only a couple of
concessions distant from the
scene' of the ceremony on June
8, 1921; they. nasi the happine.s
of seeing their four sons around
them, and the pleasure -of greet-
ing several of the guests of 40
years -ago. - former •Leola Giles, played the

Woodstock. Mrs. White, the
Colborne families, they were
married at the home of the
bride's patents, Mr. and Mrs.
James McKay Adams, on the
Saltford-Benmiller road, by Rev.
J. F, Reycraft, Goderich. After
many years on the Clutton farm
-in the third concession they
took up residence at the Dunlop
Motel, which Mr. Clutton built
on iI-igh4va -ZL-,-_White. on _Ilea,.

veloped a high-class herd of
purebred Holsteins, and was re-
cipient in 1949 of the Master
Breeder shield, conferred by the
Holstein -Friesian Association oL
Canada. He has been for years
secretary -treasurer of Huron
Holstein Club.
An enjoyable feature of the
anniversary celebration was a
turkey dinner at Tiger Dunlop
of 19, 21. J. Edgar Chalmers, of
Poole, one of the original wed-
ding guests, was present with
Mrs., Chalmers; also Mrs. Wil-
liam Donaldson, of Hamilton,
accompanying her husband;
Hamilton Clutton, of London,
brother of Hume, and Mrs.
Chester Feagan, Goderich, sister
of the bride.

to come from the Clutton -farm,
and Dougall from Goderich, with
his wife and two children. Mr.
and Mrs. Ed. Clutton arrived
from Milton with their daughter
and son, and Mr. and Mrs. James
Clutton from London, accom-
panied by their son John.
Proposing,a toast to the bride
and groem, W. E.'Elliott recall-
ed the 40 -years -ago perioda,when
Rt. Hon. Arthur Meighen • was
prime minister of Canada and
Mackenzie King Opposition lead-
er; when Lloyd George headed
the United Kingdom govern-
ment; when in Goderich C. A.
Reid was magistrate and Wil-
liam Campbell tax collector and
Tom Gundry auctioneer — and
bread was 11, cents a loaf.
In responding, Mr. Clutton ex-
pressed the hope that those pre-
sent would be able to attend the
50th anniversary.
Toward close of the dinner,
Mrs. Gordon Kaitting was heard
tinging, within the house., ^"I'll
Walk Beside Yost," a delightful
contribution much commented
upon by the guests, who also
praised the meal and service.
