Financial Statement
In explaining the monthly fin-
ancial statement presented by
Mr. A. B. Corless,- Mr. Parsons
said that any money collected
on accounts owing prior to
1959, belongs to the hospital as
well as half -the differential on
rooms, Mr. S. H. Prevett con-
gratulated the office staff on
their efficiency in collecting

The offer of the Wompen's
Hospital Auxiliary to buy a
shampoo chair and basin for the
hospital was left for further dis-
cussion at an auxiliary meeting
with ,the nursing director.
The statistical report for Jan-
uary is as follows:' Patients re-
maining in at the end of Decem-
ber, 77; patients admitted, 146;
births, 13; patients discharged,
149; deaths, 6; patients -remain-
ing in at the end of January, 81;
patient days (adult), 2418, (new-
born), 76, 2494; operations, 20;
emergencies, 52; meals, 9905.
Goderich Motel
Changes Hands
•The Goderich Motel, Bayfield
road, operated for the past five
ears by Mr. and Mrs. Harry
Israels, changed ownership yes-
terday, March lst. The new,
owners, Mr -,and Mrs. W. J. Lee,
of London, Ontario, formerly
operated the Cozy Restaurant,
in Hensall, for 13 years prior
to moving to London in 1959.
Mr. Lee has had additional ex-
perience in catering to the pub-
lic. having been engaged in sim-
ilar operations in London for
the past two years.
Mr. and Mrs Israels are mov-
ing to Loddon where their son
is a student at the University of
Western Ontario. Given as the
main reason for sale of the
motel was the desire to establish
a home near -the college for the
family's convenience. Mr. and.
Mrs. Lee have no children and
will establish residence at the

MISS ETHEL FARROW
Rev. W. J. ten Hoopen con-
ducted funeral services on Tues-
day afternoon at the Stiles fun-
eral home for Ethel Farrow who
passed away on Saturday in
Alexandra Hospital. Interment
was in Maitland cemetery.
A daughter of Asher Farrow
and the former Eliza Ann Reid,
Miss Farrow was born in Rip-
ley. At the age oft) four she
moved to Goderich where she
lived until going49 Toronto in
1923. In 1946 slip returned to
town. Miss Farrow, a former
School teacher, was a member
of North Street- United Church
and of the Ahmeek Chapter,
I.O.D.E.
A sister, Miss Laura Edith
motel. Farrow, Goderich, survives.

89, was in London last' Friday

the Royal Canadian Regiment,
of which he is the oldest ex -
member, and the only survivor
of the "Battle of Paardeberg.'

soldiers' life. "They have bet-
ter food, better clothing, better
housing, and better pay than
when I was in it." -
He was a printer at The Free
Press in, 1893 when he heeded
a call for, a force to fight --en
the Gold Coast. The unit got no
further than. Levis, Quebec,
when they were told they were
not needed and sent back home.'
He was out of the army in
1895, and rejoined from Gode-
rich for the Boer War.
