When the Branch was first
organized In 1901 the meetings
were held at the' homes of the
various members. This continu-

the meetings were transferred
to this hall in 1927 and have
been held there ever, since.
The first Thursday of the
month is still the meeting day,
as it was 60 years ago.
Many different lines of work
have been undertaken by this•

years. In 1905, for example, a
benefit oyster supper for the
Y,M.C.A. to help to equip rooms
and buy uniforms for Boy Scouts
was held.
Al v,arlous. times, the Branch
contributed financial assistance

From that day till November
1918 meetings' were held each
.eek for sewing and knitting
in the basement of Knox
Church. Contributions during
these war years amounted to
$1,592.
In 1920, the W.I. gave $75 to
the x-ray fund, and in 1921 gave
$100 to the hospital building
fund. They contributed $25 to
help with the Old Home Week
celebration and also paid $50
towards the salary of a school
nurse until 1924.
