CARL DORLAND HEADS G.L.T. 0p Goderich Little Theatre mem- .bers, patrons and friends met in a convivial atmosphere at Maitland Golf -CICS" 'tats P.- 8th, f9r the annual • general meeting- of the group. About 50 enjoyed the' social meeting which rounds 1 9 -S off the 95 0 season of activities. Air Vice - Marshal Sully, Councillor Mrs. M. Mooney, ,and -two executives from the Western Ontario Drama League, Mrs. Florence Smith and Mrs. R. H. Back, were among, the guests present. H. B. Such, assisted by (Mrs, Franik. Saunders, led in a sing- song. Apart from -actual stage ',}iroduotions, all of which were successfully executed, the group have been active in TV work, and special mention was made of completed • backstage industry, in particular, rewiring of stage. lighting equipment, for which Harry Ford was commended. A token - of the group's appreci- ation was presented to him. New front curtains have been fitted, and more improvements are under planning for the next season. • Introduced to the, group by Mrs. Florence Smith, Mrs. R. II. Back , provided interesting in- formatipn about the activities of the Drama League. j-nterv:ieWed4 later, Mrs. Back -sriTssed the_"Gemnmunit.y - aspect of little theatre 'work. A fre- quently overlooked result of a well -supported' group is the con- tribution made to the ,well-being of the youth of the locality. As evidence it was noted that Lon- don Little Theatre leas 500 stud- ent members alone, a constant supply of new talent, apart from an assured audience of the fu- ture.• It seems - .that the : chal- lenge of theatre work -offers an outlet to young people which cannot otherwise be given ex- pression. This in itself is testi- mony to the desirability 'of a community 'providing ,facilities for the •continuance of good live I theatre within its own bound- aries. And, in this respect, Mrs. Back noted that so many adults, unaware of the help they can .give to Little Theatre, whether, they can act or not, hesitate to offer their skiits in o,rctivities andpersonal support just as important, although less obvious than their more drama consc- ious neighbors. Realization of the equal importance of both audience and group as a'‘com- rbined community effort is the key to success, enjoyed by all. The members accepted the nominated executive for the - corning --season Elette president, ;Carl Dorlland; vice- presidents, Mine Hill and M. iMefie; secretary, Betty Etue' treasurer, Reg. Bell; press re- presentative, Adrian Schofield; corresponding secretary, Ellen Nelson. "11 • Dressy Window" Seat Covers EAR-P‘ASTIC' .45 Lets the beauty show through!
