In fact, if 'the amount of Marin donrc—by gossip could be computed in terms of dol- lars and cents the sum would be colossal. 'Small towns and villages, unfortunately, are traditionally, classified as the greatest bree 3—ground for gossip. Recently there was a juvenile court ease in Goderieh involving a number of youngsters from Exeter. Those found guilty of certain charges were convicted, as' they should have been. But the cases created a flood of gossip in the Exeter district When many' harmful and unfounded minors were tossed about with the customary, irrespon- sible abandon. This... gossip provoked The Exeter Tinges-Adyoeate to say editorially: ;`Bat fools with prattling tongues have distorted the picture, twisted the pe•rspee- tive, and, in the confusion they have ercat- ed, may suceeed•in destroying the purpose of the •courts action. Additional' transportation routes must be set up. The Board is not able to estimate which pupils, will have to attend other schools. The ,present enrolment is the maximum number of pupils which may be accommodated with the present staff of,, seven teachers and seven classrooms now in operation. A , Any increase in the number of pupils will require an additional classroom and an additional -teacher in the township of Colborne in 1960. The proposed plan provides a pea'mancnt solution in the addition of 3 class- rooms and 1 playroom at Zion Central School. Zion 5 classrooms, 1 playroom Estimated increase in September Saltford — 2 classrooms 162 pupils 12 pupils 174 pupils 70 pupils 244 pupils Under this plan each teacher at Zion would be required to teach no more than two grades. Enrolment in'the pNmary grades could be kept lower than enrol, ment in the senior grades. Seven teachers would be sufficient. Accommodation in Zion and Saltford would be first-class. Teachers regard more favourably fewer grades In one classroom. tEstimated mill rate for 1960 -- 12 mills.
