At the Ashfield Township
nomination. meeting On Friday,
Reeve Cecil Blake said, "this
has been one of the most trying
years since I entered municipal
life."
Mr. Blake referred to the
school and winter roads ques-
tions' as the two biggest prob-
lems. The Reeve explained the
tax rate 'being up three mills
primarily • on account of the
heavy snow removal expense
last winter although they had
been running things "too close"
without considering the snow.
In other-. years, the heaviest
snow cost ,had run around
$9,000, while this year,snow re-
m'oval-cost -praetically $25,000.
The summer work had to be cut
accordingly and what little
!honey was available spent as
-wisely -as VOssible.

presentative to the Goderich
