Joseph McLaughlin of Dublin, was fined $150 and. costs, or 30 days in jail, when he was convicted - here Thursday of possessing an offensive weapon for a purpose dangerous to the public .peace. McLaughlin, whose defence was conducted by lawyer Frank Cal- laghan, of Goderich, was ordered to • report to a probation officer. He was instructed to stay out of Goderich and leave the girl, Bar- bara McCormick, alone unless she informs the probation officer that she wants the youth's companion- ship again. He agreed to enter into recogniz- ance of $200 to keep the -peace for the next 18 months. Under cross-examination, Mist: McCormick said that McLaughlin had driven her to the home .of Mrs, William Mohring on Elizabeth street where she was supposed to baby-sit on the evening of Septem- ber 23.
