Miss Lois Webster, Scarboro, spent the week -end at home with her parents, Mr. and IVIrs. Thomas Webster. Rev. R. Kennedy accompanied the Dungannon Trail Rangers on a visit to Clinton RCAF on Saturday afternoon. Old Tree Passes. -A large maple tree, one of the old landmarks, was removed recently from the St. Pain's Anglican Church grounds. The rural hydro gang carefully brought it down. Men from St. Paul's congregation held a sawing bee and obtained from the tree quite a pile of wood. The older folks say it was a large tree as long as they can remember. It is better to remember it as a use- ful shade tree, than to fall prey to a windstorm and do possible damage to buildings. Mrs. Jerry Crawford and infant son, Michael John, arrived home from Goderich hospital on Monday. Mr. Allan Reed took a bus load of the Lucknow Legion to West- minster Hospital on Sunday, also meeting his son, Jim, a student at University of Western Ontario. Mrs. Gordon Smyth was taken to Wingham hospital on Saturday. We hope to hear of a speedy re- cover'.. At the Dungannon United Church service on Sunday morn- ing, Mrs. George Errington, (nee Jean Acheson), was received into membership by transfer. Brock Robert, infant son of Mr. and Mrs. Lorne Hasty, was baptized by Rev. R. Kennedy. Mr. Gordon Congram, who de- veloped plural pneumonia, was" taken to Wingham hospital on Fri- day. Miss Jessie ;Wallace, ill ,at -the hone of Mrs. J. Giver and Miss McMillan, is gradually improvung, but is still in bed. McDonald, Mrs. Frank Pentland and also Miss Ferne Robb, Goderich, were recent visit- ors with Mrs. Ann Brown, Ripley. One of Mr. Alvin Sherwood's busses, with Gordon Schultz as driver, transported junior boys td Goderich arena for skating and hockey on Saturday morning. Mrs. Will Stewart was hostess at her home for Erskine Presby- terian W.M.S. on Thursday after- noon. Miss E. McMillan presided. aVlrs4Will Reid conducted the de- votional. Mrs. Jas. Wilson gave the Glad Tidings prayer. Miss Iva Carr gave a short address of appreciation to six senior members. Little tokens of remembrance were presented. Mrs. bank Jones presided at the piano for hymns. Mrs. Wallace Wilson gave the roll call and minutes. Mrs. Jones gave a reading. Mrs. W. Stewart read a letter from Rev. George Malcolm, of Formosa. A hymn and closing prayer by Miss McMillan was fol- lowed with a social half hour over the tea cups. . PERSONAL MENTION Mrs. Alice Welsh, of Goderich, accompanied by her daughters, Mrs. Lewis Ruddy and Mrs. Carl Govier and Mr. Govier, all of Auburn, attepded the funeral of Mrs. Beatrice Coleman on Novem- ber 16, at Chelsea. Deceased was a sister of Mrs. Welsh and was born in England, coming to Canada in 1902. This year the first prize is a monster turkey, and second prize is a chicken. The proceeds, as in „other years, will aid in providing better facilities and such activities as the annual Christmas party. The prize for the cadet who sells the most tickets will be 10 percent of the proceeds,. On Tuesday, the rooms were somewhat cramped as the hangar was being painted. Attendance dropped because of exams at the high school. More recruits are still needed to fill our quota and bring the squad- ron's strength back over 100, as the roll is now settled at about 90.
