service.
The Ladies' Guild was held at
the home of" Mrs. Wm. Tlgert on
Wednesday of last week with: a
good attendance. The meeting
was in charge of the honorary
president, Mrs. Jennings. A
bossiness meeting followed. '1'he
president, Mrs. A. Foster, resign-
ed owing to illtess and a new
president, Mrs. A. Forester, was
elected; also a new secretary, Mrs.
M. Hodges. The Lenten collection
was received axid was donated to
church extension. • Plans were dis-
cussed for bazaar in August. The
hostess served "a lunch.
Congratulaitions to Mr. and Mrs..
Elwin Petrie on the birth of a
son.
Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Crossett
and family, Sarnia, were visitors
with Mr. and Mrs. Roy Petrie.

Mr. and Mrs. H. Eugene Hanson,
of East Tawas, Mich., is visiting
this week with the latter's sister-
in-law, Mrs. S. J. Kilpatrick.
Mr. and Mrs. Walter Stafford,
Toronto, spent the week -end in the
village and called on relatives.
Mr. and Mrs. Zevko Trifunovic,
Nancy and Neil, of Fergus, spent

Mrs. Emmerson Rogers are credit-
ed with the fine production. At
the conclusion of the performance,
Mrs. Gordon Anderson, principal,
along with her pupils served tea at
tables. A penny auction brought
$12.15 for the skating fund.- There
was a counter of sewing and wood-
en novelties. Rev. G. D. Watt was
chairman. Eleanor Reed gave a
piano solo and violin solo that won
her awards at Goderich Music Fes-
tival.
Mrs. John Bennett.—The death
of Mrs. John Bennett last Thursday
night, removed a well known and
respected citizen. She had been
ill onlythat day. ° After rising in
the morning, she didn't feel equal
to the day's routine and soon after-
wards lapsed into unconsciousness
and passed away at ,Gotlerich hos-
pital late that night. She was
formerly Christina Rutherford, St.
Helens, a daughter of the late
Hugh Rutherford and Elizabeth
Durnin Rutherford. Besides her
husband, she is survived by two
sons, Hugh, nearby, and Bruce, at
home, three grandchildren, a sister,
Mrs. O. E. Anderson, Belgrave, and
a brother, Wm. Rutherford, St.
Helens. Deceased was in her 73rd
year and will be greatly missed by
all; and- particularly in Erskine
Presbyterian Churn, where sahe
took an active part in the W.M.S.1
society. The funeral took place
Monday afternoon at Dungannon
Presbyterian Church with Rev.
Wallace McClean giving the ad-
dress. He was.assisted by Rev. D.
Lane, Clinton. Miss Norma4Vlurray
presided at the organ. Comforting
words were spoken to the bereaved
by the minister. The pallbearers
were Carman ' Hayden,Edgar
Dougherty, Graham Anderson, John
k.utherford, Cliff Murray, and
Arthur Stewart. The flowenbearers
were Bert iCrawford, Elwyn Pent-
land, Bryce Elliott, Ross ,Anderson.

Committee, stating new kitchen
furniture had been purchased, a
living room table and chair and
other items of furnishings. Plans
were discussed for interior decor-
ating. It was decided to canvass
the congregation instead of hold-
ing a garden party this year. The
ladies are catering dor the Sunday
School rally on May 22 in the
church and will also cater for 'a
wedding in, June. The lunch com-
mittee served 'lunch at the ,end of
the meeting.
DUNGAN'NON, May 14. -°- Mr.
and Mrs. Everett Errington
were 25 years married on Satur-
day. On Sunday at their home, a
family reunion was enjoyed. Pre-
sent were Mr. and Mrs. Harold
(Isabelle) Alams and three child-
ren, Port Albert; Mr. and Mrs.
.Jerry Crawford and little sen, of
Goderich; Mr. Wilmer Errington,
a student of Stratford Teachers'
College and Miss Marjorie Erring-
ton, a nurse -in -training at Wood-
stork hospital. A lovely silver tea
.service was given by the family
to their parents.
Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Maize and
three little daughters who have
lived at Glenn's.Hill have purchas-
ed a house in Ltfknow where Mr.
Maize works. -
(Mrs. Hugh 1VicWhinney received
word that her father, Wm. W. El-
liott, 60, of Aultsville, • Ont., had
passed away Monday, May 6. Mrs.
McWhinney and two little daugh-
ters left for there the following.
day. Her husband left on Wednes-
day to attend the funeral on Thurs-
day. Survivors besides her mother,
Mrs. Elliott, is a s ster, Dorothy,
Mrs. Cecil Gogo, of Farran's Point,
Ont. Mr. Elliott had a brother in
Saskatchewan and six sisters
around ShawviBe, Quebec, where
he originally- came from. -Mrs. Mc-
Whinney (Willetta) and little
daughters have remained a while
