- Q ` Central i; aptist Church in
Samna..
A welcome was extended to Mr.
Waling and his wife by Rev. S.
11. Findlay. .At the morning ser -
Viet, the visiting pastor spoke on
the 'hristia .Family.
For his text at the evening ser-
vice, Mr. '.VVlcClung took the words
of Pilate, 'What I have written, 1
have written."
These words were spoken by
Pilate at the time of the crucifix-
ion of Jesus, the pecker pointed
out. In Roanan law, when a man
was put to death, it was common
practice to write out the charge
against the man so that all could
see. In Jesus' case, Pilate wrote,
"Jesus of Nazareth, King of the
Jews.''
When others objected and said
it should, read, "He said he was
King of the Jews,' Pilate refused
to change it.
"So is it in life—for us all,"
declared Mr. Mct'lung. "What we
have written, is written , . . not
the things you would like to put
there, but the things that really
are. You are writing your own
story."
He continued, "What are you
writing in your own book? Are
you saying it is more important to
enjoy the pleasures of life than
to have quiet communion with
God?
Why Is Life Given?
"Is your very aim in life dollars?
Is life given far°the attainment of
riches and wealth?"
In answer, he cited wealthy
people *ho one day discovered
they really had nothing. All their
wealth could not purchase one
minute of extra time so they
could fit t.he'mselye) to meet their
tt
•"You cannot change it," sale.
Mr. McClung. "It is written out.
'What ydu have written, you have
written in life. It is there for
eternity."
Then the speaker held out hope.
"But, thanks be to God for Jesus
Christ. . . He can make the foul-
est clean. He can take any hypo-
crite and make him a servant of
cod."
The speaker then urged all his
listeners 'to accept God fully, if
they had not done so already, so
that the pages of their lives might
be cleansed.
Music was provided by Mrs. Ella
Donaldson, organist, and Mrs. Roy
Hudson at the piano. Mrs. John
Ostrom, of Clinton, was soloist at
the morning service and two num-
bers were sung by the junior choir.
At the evening service, duets were
sung 'William Chase and D.
Medley and by Rev. and Mrs.
Ostrom.
Mr. Findlay announced that the
church annual meeting will be held
on Tuesday, May 21.
Members of the congregation at-
tend'ed an anniversary supper sery
ed by the Florence Pletsch Mission
Circle on Monday evening. Mi.
McClung again spoke. and special
music was provided by Mrs. Mc-
Clung.
