Douglas Fisher, of R.R. 3, "Gt)de-
rich, was adjudged tops among 33
competitors divided into three
piano solo classes. He received
two awards: The !first was a $25
scholarship presented by Mrs. N.
Clairmont on behalf of Goderich
Women's Institute. The other was
a pen and pencil set donated by
F. T. Armstrong "for the boy com-
petitor who, in the opinion of the
adjudicator, shows the best music-
ianship in the piano solo classes."
In the double trio class, six boy
singers from Seaforth Public
School captured the shield don-
ated by Goderich Public School
Board. The presentation was made
by .Mrs. Edward, who is chairman
of the board.
The first part of the program
came to a rousing conclusion with
Doris John.ston's rendition of
-Light Cavalry Overture" on the
marimba. The 'Clinton girl's fes-
tival mark of 88 was equalled only
by St. Geonge's Church Choir, of
Goderich.
Returns For Encore
Amid heavy -applause, Miss John-
ston was presented with the Brus-
sels Lions Club cash award by
Mrs. Jessop. Later, the talented
young lady retunn.ed for an encore.
A silver eup, donated by. Huron
County for competition in the boys'
solo classes, was won. by Calvin
Buchanan, a student of Wingham
District High School. He was not
present to receive his award.
The $25 scholarship donated by
Sifto Salt Ltd. was presented by
Mrs. EdwArd to Nelson McClirichey,
af Hensall, 'another pianist who -
topped his class. !
For excellence in the alto horn
solo ' elasse-s, Joan Johnston, of
Clinton, received a 'cash oWard of
$5 from Brussels Lions Club. She
also acc,epted ac 1111TOT2 County
scholarship,- "w.hich was presented
by Warden Gowdy.
The $25 scholarship donated by

bara Snell, of Hullett Torwnship,
for the best performance in two
vocal solo classes.
Judy Snelgrave, of Exeter, was
the recipient of a $25 !scholarship
donated -by Huron County for the
top contestant in three piano solo
classes.

provided by The pupils of S.S. 2,
Colborne Township, who von top
honors in the rhythm band class.

Gov,ndy to Linda and Sandra Wol-
per, of Exeter, for exeellence in
piano duet classes.
Eleanor Reed, of Dungannon,
then received her second award
of the night. As winner of the
.highest mark in violin classes, she
was presented with a *ash prize
of $5 by Mrs. Max Fritzley on be-
half of Rebekah Lodge, 100F.
Earlier, !Miss Reed received a piano
scholarship.
Warden iGavvdy presented a
Huron County scholarship, valued
at $25, to ,Carol Brown, of 'Henson,
another winner in the p•iano solo
classes.
Faye Love, of Walton, who sang
"Florian's Song,':, received the.
music lyre donated by Beta Sigma
Phi Sorority, and presented by .MTS.
Pianist .Sandra Walper returned
to -accept the silver cup...donated
by Wingluam Kinette Club. The
presentation was made by Miss
Videan.
The program closed with Mac-
farlane's "Open Our Eyes" as sung
by St. George's Church Choir, of
Goderieh. The choir, directed by
J. F. Stephens, festival vice-presi-
dent, tied for the highest mark of
88 at this year's festival.
