A new, two -room school for the
Colborne Township School Area is
eagerly awaited by township
youngsters. Above are seen.: some
of them gathered at the corner
where the new school is to be
built, the site of which is that
once occupied by the' old Zion
church.
Stumbling 'block for the "go
ahead" signal on building is the
high tenders. Highest is $50,000
and lowest is $47,000. Mr. William
Watson,. -secretary of the Colborne
Township School Area, stated that
the Ontario Department of Educa-
tion has approvod a top figure of
only $40,000 for a new two -room
school. This means that the tend-
ers now in will either have to be
reduced or else new tenders will
have to be called, Mr. Watson said.
It is hoped to have the school built
and ready for occupancy by Sep-
tember. Architects are McTavish
and Bridgeman, of London. The
hydro wires which pass immediate-
ly over where the new school is
to be built are to be moved to
another location.

A sugar -beet club with 31 members
and two 4-11 grain corn clubs, one
at Exeter and one at Goderich
with a total of 36 members. The
rules and regulations far these
clubs are similar to those of other
field crops 'clubs. Each member
in the sugar beet club will be
required to care for one acre of
sugar beets from the time of plant-
ing until harvesting. Records must
be kept of the cost of production
and tests of the beets in the plot
will be carried out by the Canada
