non, were in Goderich for a brief
stay recently. They h a d
spent the great part of the day at
Seaforth, 'where Dr. eedler, who
is interested in the „+oiy of the
Huron Tract and has i'tten some
notable volumes on the poetry of
John Galt, was gathering informa-
lion .eoncerning'Col. VanEgmond,
one of the most adventurous of
Huron's early pioneer's. In late
afternoon the trio drove up to
Goderi h and made a call on Mr.
Gavin Green and hal an interest-
ing half-hour with the author of
two well-known books and numer-
ous articles on events and person-
alities in Huron's earlier days.

A Dungannon herd of Shorthorn
cattle is-- the first in. Ontario to
have received classification from
the Shoorthorn Cattle Association.
The herd is en Carnation Stock
Farms owned and operated by
Alvin Sherwood.
Mr. Sherwood said 'Ghat the ap-
plication to have the herd classi-
fied was the first to have been
made in Ontario and the classifica-
tion was the first one made in the
province. ,Examination•of the herd
was made by an Auburn district
man, E. H. Stoltz, Eastern Canada
Field Supervisor for the Shorthorn
Cattle Association.

guilty in court here last Thursday
to-- a charge of driving while his
license was under suspension.'
Crown Attorney H. Glenn Hays
told the court that William Park
.had been stopped on two different
occasions by Ontario Provincial
Police. The ,first time 'he said he
had forgotten his license and the
second time be said he had left
it at home in another pair of pants.
"He even offered to go home
with police and show them his
license," the crown attorney said.
"It is clearly a matter of trying a
straight bluff on the police." -
When police checked, Mr. Hays
said, they found the license had
been suspended.
"What have you gat to say for
yourself?" Magistrate D. E.• Holmes
asked the accused.
"Just guilty," the accused re-
plied. "The owner of the car
didn't know I wasn't allowed . to
drive."
"11 you intend to drive and come

up before me again, there'll be a
jail sentence," the magistrate
warned.
