bing a Kincardine man near Am-
berley early Sunday morning.
The victim of the attack, W. J.
Kennedy, 34, of Kineardine, was
releasedfrom Alexandra Marine
and General Hospital in Goderieh
following treatment in which he
received seven stitches to a head
wound.
Hurt In Crash
. Charged with robbery are James
Steffier, 17; James Noble, 17 and
Donald Flood, 16. Both Steffler
and. Noble were kept overnight
Sunday at hospital here for treat-
ment of injnries received when
Kennedy's car was damaged in a
crash after the owner had been
dumped unconscious by the road-
side.
Tipped off by an Amherd,ey wo-
man, Provincial Police Constables
Morley Groves and Arnold Sum -
meds found the three youths sit-
ting at a roadside table on High-
way 86 about a mile from.Amber-
ley early Sunday evening and were
placed under arrest.
Police said that Kennedy, # CNR
employee on the run from
London to Owen Sound; completed
a trip at Owen Sound last Satur-
day night and started for Kin-
cardine. On the way, he picked
up the three youths hitch -hiking
on No. 21 Highway at about 12.10
a.m.
.,•
Kennedy told police that when
lie complained of being tired, one
of the youths Offered to drive. He
agreed and fell asleep in the front
seat. When he awoke, the car
was passing the Amberley inter-
section, Kennedy said, and when
he protested he was silenced by a
blow to the head from one of the
youths in the back seat.
Kennedy was found unconscious
in the ditch, a short time later by
Bill Gardner, Goderich, and a
group of local men returning from
a smelt fishing trip. They took
him to hospital 'here.
The car was found smashed into
a tree on a sideroad at about 9
a.m. Sunday by a Kintail area
farmer. An all -day •search for the
youths, who apparently wandered
around in the woods, was conduc-
ted by Provincial Police headed by
Corporal Harry Sayeau and Con

,stable Doug Whitfield of the Code -
rich detachment. '
PLANNING BOARD TO
REVAMP ZONE BY -LAY
An intensified program of com-
pleting a revised, proposed zoning
by-law for Goderich was planned
at a meeting of the Goderieh Area
Planning Board Tuesday night.
Every Tuesday night for the next
three weeks a meeting will be held
in an effort to complete a proposed
plan to bring before a meeting of
the Town Council early, in June.
J. K. Hunter gave a report of a'
delegation which went to Toronto
several weeks ago to confer with
officials of the Ontario Department
of • Planning and Development.
Others on the delegation were May-
or J. E. Huckins and surveyor B.
M. Ross. From these officials
guidance was obtained as to the
manner in which the zoning by-law
with respect to Goderich should
be mapped out,
Some speculation Was voiced as
to what parking problems would
be created on West Street as a
result ot the opening of a Super-
market there. Opinions varied as
to the extent, of the problem which
might arise.
