Last year was the first that an
oratorical contest was held at
GtDCOI and that fact alone kept
many from entering. But, fortun-
ately, there were a number of
Venturesome -souls' arid' the Contest
was quite successful. ' Let's. make
the contest this year an even
bigger success with many entries!
Carol Singing
The hallowed halls rang the past
week to urge upon the "inmates"
the Christmas spirit.
These carol -singing periods pass
by all too quickly. Carol singing
is so enjoyed, partly because
everyone may join in the singing.
A special number by one of the
singing groups, makes a pleasing
break, but many felt that four
numbers, only one of which Was a
Christmas song, monopolized our
twenty -minute period.
Christmas Parties
During.the -past week and a half-
manY 'of the grades held parties
both' in the afternoon and evening.
One which deserves mention is
that- held- by " the grade 12 girls'
health class; at GDCI on Tuesday
evening for some young children
from two to eight years of age.
In the true spirit of Christmas,
Santa was kind enough to drop in
on them to wish all a Merry
Christmas.
Marx Bros. Visit GDCI
Last year on the last afternoon
preceding the Christmas and -Easter
vacation, the 'films "Oliver Twist"
and "The Cruel Sea" were shown
in the gymnasium. This practice
was continued this year when on
-Wednesday afternoon a film star-
ring those zany comics, the Marx.
