Wind in their ,sailp .?ere on IVIonday
night as they cruised -to an 8.6
victory over the highly -touted
Durham ilttakles in. an exhibition
-game before ' meagre crowd of
abOut 350.
Playing Manager Ted Williams
got the winningmarker for the
tars early in the final frame, and
a move by the Huskies to knot the
count in the dying seconds of the.
game backfired as Billy MacDon-
ald banged the puck into the open
Dnrham net for the insurance goal.
The game was a wide-open, fast,
• erowd-pleasing affair from start to
finish. - -•.;t•
The Sailors started off their scor-
ing early in •the first stanza, with
Barash and Cruickshank blinking
the red light within a space of 21
isecond., The Huskies roared back
with a vengeance, however, and be-
fore five minutes had elapsed in
the game, McIntosh had knotted
the count. He scored again at the
,the
mark to put the
Huskies ahead 3-2.
The Huskies scored twice early
-in the second stanza to the Sail-
ors' once. Then the Sailors got
three quick goals late in the period
to Durham's one, leaving the score
at 6-6.
Wlliams combined with "Junior"
Barash for the tie-breaker. Then
the.Sallors went on the defensive
to protect the one -goal lead. With
only a minute and one-half Ieft in
the game, Durham Goalie Deeves
was taken from the game to give
the 'Huskies a 'six -man rushing
squad.
But the move failed to pay off.
Twice, Billy MacDonald fired the
puck the length of .the ice only
to miss the open Durham net, The
third time he got 'the puck, Mac-
Donald skated into the Durham
zone. The only defenceman for
the Huskies Ieft in the Durham
end of the rink tried to act as -

Music at
As our feature for this "week's
column we have, Chosen the extra
curriculum musical. activity. Our
school orchestra i Still a' distant
dream -and• -•at present the musical
activity is- limited to a ntiniber of
singing groups. Some of us are
hazy as to tae distinction among
these different groups." AS 'each
group will, be &singing a special'
number during our coming Christ-
mas carol-sieging assemblies be-
ginning December 22, we thought
this would be a good, opportunity
to give you some information
about each.
Glee' Club: The Glee Club is by
•far the• largest of these groups.
It consists. of about 100 girls and
boys in grades 9 and 10. Members
of this 'group receive credit „ in
class for their attendance at
practices.
Collegiate Chorafiers: The Col-
legiate Choraliers sang at our com-
mencement this fall. This group
of between 30 and 35 was origin-
ally organized last January to in-
terest students in grades 11, 12
and 13, and is limited to these
grades. It is a mixed chorus and
has -the unusual feature of a tenor
section.
Girls' Chorus: The Girls' Chorus
is a small group of 1.5 picked girls
who have yet to be heard at
G.D.C.I. Mr, Ewing 'believes this
group makes up for ;their small
number by the quality of their
singing. 4,,
Boys° Chorus: The Boys' Chorus
is this year a four-part picked
group of 19. The membership in-
cludes students of all grades. It
also sang at our commencement
this year and has also sung at,
North Street United Church,
Male Quartet: The male Quartet
is already well known to many.
One change took place this year
whe•n Bob Bartwick left Goderich.
Bruno Lepaine is the new bass.
Having been one of the most en-
thusiastic chorus members at G.D:
C.f., Mr. Ewing feels Bruno is a
good choice. •
It is clear from these groups
that singing at • G.D.C.I. plays no
small part.
