- Sympathy is extended to the
family and relatives in the death
of Mrs. John S. Scott, formerly
Alice Harrison, at Wingham Gen-
eral Hospital, on Wednesday, De-
cember 1, in her 86th year. The
funeral was held from Belgrave
United Church on Saturday.
Mr. and Mrs: Carl Deans and
daughters, of Guelph, were Sunday
visitors with Mr. and Mrs. Norman

DUNGANNON, Dee. 8.—Mr. and
Mrs. Wilfred Pentland and son,
Larry, spent the week -end with
the former's brother, Laverne Pent-
land, wife and family.
Miss Clara ' Sproul and Alis. J.
D. Hessen spent the week -end with
the Misses Nettie and Retina
Sproul, J. D. Hessen visited on
Sunday.
Mrs. Harvey Anderson, Mrs. Al-
vin Sherwood, Mrs. Will McCon-
nell, Roderick McKenzie and Cecil
Blake attended the funeral of the
late Henry Johnston, of Stratford,
on Monday. He was their cousin.
His wife was Bea Gibson, a daugh-
ter of the late Sidney Gibson and
Teena McConnell,- Stratford, form-

Supper Held.—The Dungannon 1r -
United Church Sunday School,
superintendent, officers, teachers
and pupils on Wednesday night
enjoyed a hot fowl supper in the
church basement. A program was
enjoyed later in the auditorium
where parents and the congrega-
tional members gathered. Mr. K.
K. Dawson,r,former super, tendent,
was chairman. A selection was
sung by a male quartette, consist-
ing of Jim Scott, Lorne Hackett,
Barry Hackett and Frank Alton,
with Jim Scott playing mandolin
accompaniment. Barbara Foster
sang "Silent ..Night," accompanied
by her sister, Lynda Foster. Rev.
G. D. Watt, the pastor, made a
few remarks, commenting on the
'successful evening. Heber Eedy,
also a former superintendent,
spoke words of appreciation 'for
the work of the present superin-
tendent, Frank ,Pentland, officers,
teachers and the attendance of the
Sunday school scholars. Wilfred
Anderson, of Lucknow, showed a
film on his European,trip last year.
Mr. and Mrs. Durnin Phillips
spent 10 days in Florida. Mr.
Phillips returned last week, but
Mrs. Phillips was, remaining for
two or three weeks longer.
Miss Marjorie Errington, nurse -
in -training at Woodstock General
Hospital, visited her parents, Mr.
and Mrs. Everett Errington, on
Sunday.
Elect Officers.—The December
meeting of the United Church
Women's Missionary Society was
held at the home of Mrs. Herb
Finnigan with 11 members present.
Mrs. Herb Finnigan Galled the
meeting to order. The roll call
was answered by the number of
sick being called upon and the
minutes were read and adopted.
The worship service was taken by
Mrs. Herb Finnigan, with Mrs, A.
Elliott, Mrs. G. Hodges and Mrs. 48x
H. Horton offering prayer. Mrs:
Crozier also assisted in the ser-
vice. Mrs. Otto Popp invited the
ladies to her home for the Janu-
ary meeting and Mrs. G. Hodges
offered to. take the study book.
Rev. G. D. Watt conducted the
election of officers, which resulted
